Just changed our status. We waited like a week after it happened, which I’m kinda glad – our phones were buzzing the rest of the night after we posted it.

My fiance actually posted first. He took a picture of me holding my hand up so you could see my ring and captioned it “See this beautiful girl? I’m going to make her my wife”. He really wanted to post first because he had been planning it for so long and wanted everyone to know it went well!

So then I posted a picture of us from right after the proposal captioned “See this amazing guy? He’s my future husband πŸ™‚ He proposed at Disney in front of the castle during the fireworks! :)”

And we changed our relationship statuses.

I posted 3 pictures with three seperate captions:

1st picture: A picture of the lake we were on. “So I went out on the lake….”

2nd picture: Picture of the fiance. “…with this guy…”

3rd picture: picture of the ring. “…AND GOT ENGAGED!”

After we called the important people and emailed personally a few more (we were in Japan) we both posted blurbs but they contain a lot of personal details so I won’t reproduce them, and then I posted a bunch of ring pictures. πŸ™‚ We’re both pretty active on facebook so we did the same for that.

My fi and I rarely ever post anything on social media let alone anything about each other. We are usually very private people. I found out some didn’t even know we were together for 6 years (even though he and I were in a relationship with each other on facebook) prior to changing our status to Engaged! We changed our relationship status 13 hrs after being officially engaged (which gave us time to let all our close family and friends know first) and the congratulations kept on rolling in. Even people I hadn’t spoken to since high school congratulated us and asked for invites (which annoyed me but that’s a different story). Fi wanted me to post a picture of the beautiful e-ring but I was uncomfortable with that. I felt the ring was and is very personal. If people want to see then they have to see me and the ring, face-to-face hehe πŸ™‚

I waited a few hours to let it sink in that I was engaged. After calling family members to break the happy news (it would NOT be cool if a coworker found out before Grandma), I changed my Facebook relationship status to ‘engaged’, posted a picture of me and the ring, and wrote a post saying something along the lines of “It’s now official. MrJenningsToBe and I got engaged date so-and-so.” Funny enough, I got more likes on that post than on the changed relationship status πŸ˜›

I changed my relationship status a couple hours after the fact and by the time I came home and checked again I had a million messages, comments, likes etc. I kind of regretted it! And several days later I posted a few pictures.

I changed my relationship status and wrote something like, “Fi and I are gettin’ hitched”. Classy, ha.

Oh and we got engaged on a Friday and I waited until Monday to announce anything in order to tell certain people to their face (or in some cases over the phone). In order to do this I had to turn off my FB wall to avoid telling a family member and having them put something all over facebook and letting other people know.

I called my family and friends, went on vacation for 2 weeks, came home, called some more people, and then changed my relationship status and posted a picture of the ring. (One of my best friends was on her honeymoon and I didn’t want her to find out via Facebook that we had finally gotten engaged)

We had been engaged for about a month when I posted so I put “I guess it’s time to make it FB official… FH and I are engaged and I couldn’t possibly be happier!”

I wrote “ENGAGEDD (suck it erin)”
Erin was an old friend I had a bet with about getting married. Her Bf was against marriage!
But i was so excited, for the first month everytime i looked at my hand i cried!
