I posted the Mumford and Sons song “She Said Yes”. It was always my plan to do that. However I had NO idea that we’d actually get engaged in South Carolina as “the summer sun set” and how he “flew all the way to ask my father”. He’d never heard the song!

My friends were hilarious. I had so many comments of “ABOUT TIME!” from people (after 7 1/2 years at that point, I was liable to agree).

We got engaged two Thursdays ago(!) and we were committed to talking to our close friends’ & families’ faces before we talked to their Facebooks! haha

I’ve been learning way too many people’s important life events via FB and not in a more personal way so we waited until we had spoken to our first degree of family and people that we are asking to be in our wedding party before changing our status to Engaged. We were engaged on a Thurs night (3/28) & talked to the last two people (my godfather, Chad’s grandma) on Sunday afternoon and changed it then.

Once we did that we got literally 100+ likes, comments, etc in under 12 hours!!! We heard from cherished friends who live as far away as both coasts, Texas and Afghanistan immediately. It was amazing. I mean I can’t beleive we heard from our military friends so fast (I was so happy I cried) lol

Love that social media, you know? Cool

I just changed my status with “He asked. I said yes!”. After I called my close friends and family, of course!

I find it super weird when people use social media to announce big news the first time. Someone recently posted on FB that she was pregnant and there were all these responses along the lines of, “You’re in a relationship?”, “Who’s the dad?”, “Did you get married?”, etc. And these were all in response to the pic she posted with the two of them. Those wouldn’t be the comments I wanted in response to important news so I would definately annouce it to loved ones first. Facebook to me, was just a follow up.

My fiancee’ posted on Facebook something to the effect of, “It is with great happiness that I can now say I am engaged to MrsMJCarter2Be”  and tagged me in the post.  He posted about 2 hours after he proposed.   He is definitely on the traditional side so I knew to let him take the lead.

He proposed on 12/29. After letting our immediate family and close friends know… I posted, “Santa had one more gift for me… a fiancé!!!” 🙂

I said “Now that we have had the opportunity to personally tell our families, xx xxxx and I would like to announce that we are engaged”.  I had to wait three days to tell everyone over Christmas before I could post it! It was torture hah

We just updated our relationship status. Everyone figured it out from that.

The wedding was pretty much the same! Haha, a few of my facebook friends had had no idea I was getting married.
