this was my exact status update… good old facebook timeline LOL
“I’m engaged!!!!! Oh my god, I can’t believe it, the ring is stunning, love you so much Mr Appleton, thank you so much for such an awesome night xxx”
That was the following day, would have been sooner but I had no signal where he proposed… I can’t lie.. was very excited lol

I think I wrote: Engaged!!!!

A picture with me and DeAndre from American Idol. After my proposal, we popped into a NYC restaurant, and there we was, only a few days after getting voted off the show! I went up to him and told him I was a fan, and I just got engaged and I neeeeeeded a picture. He obliged, and I posted “American Idol’s DeAndre is ecstatic that I’m engaged!!!”

Another one who just changed her status. The congrats flew pretty fast, anyway.

I’m now married, and I STILL haven’t posted engagement news or wedding news on FaceBook. A few relatives have posted photos taken at the wedding, but I managed to avoid being “tagged.”
My only wedding-related FaceBook activity was to update my last name after the honeymoon.

Nothing. Those who are close already know. We are having a very small wedding (less than 40) and have already gotten the “We better be invited!!” crap.
I won’t change it until we are actually married.

We just changed our status. No pictures of the ring or proposal were posted (though we have them)- just felt those were private and between us.

Changed my status to engaged. That was it.
I didn’t want to make a big deal out of it since I was inviting probably 10% (if that) of my FB friends. So I swapped our relationship status from “In a relationship” to “engaged” and that’s all we did. Then we were silent again until our wedding date, when we swapped out “engaged” for “married”. Done.
Oh, I did post up engagement photos but we only noted those as engagement photos. I ended up hiding the whole album after about a week or two, and then only kept up the profile/cover photos from our engagement shoot. You could see my ring from a distance, but there were no hand shots.

I didn’t post anything because I’m pretty low key on FB, but not my FI! He’s a social butterfly on there. Literally 10 minutes later in his status he put “She said YES!!”. I guess everyone already knew he was going to do it that night except me 🙂

Despite the fact that I am a Facebook maniac fanatic, it took me almost a week to update the world on our news and to turn my ‘in a relationship’ status into ‘Engaged’ 🙂
We just wanted to make sure we tell our nearest and dearest ‘in person’ and once that was done, I pressed the button!
And this is how I did it 🙂 I like my way with words!
Like the OP, I did not post a picture of the ring, I still see it as a very intimate thing and showing it off would almost overshadow the event itself. I’m sure I’ll get comfortable with sharing it soon though ;))

Another Bee who changed her relationship status to engaged but didn’t comment. Even that felt pretty exciting!!
I said “Sulli301 is the future Mrs. first name middle name last name…officially!” 🙂 May 5, 2009!

I didn’t post anything on Facebook. I personally don’t see the point in telling everybody who isn’t important, and I dislike how Facebook is a relationship banner-waving fest so lol I didn’t.

I waited a few days then changed my profile pic to one we took shorty after he asked. You can tell im wearing a ring but it isn’t a close up of it. My close friends that already knew commented on the pic and then others caught on. Then i changed my status about a week later.
