Our reception (for our very small wedding!) was in a private room at an Italian restaurant. Here’s our menu:
ANTIPASTI -SERVED FAMILY STYLE
Fried Calamari
Lightly breaded fried calamari, seasoned and accompanied by our own special dressing of sun-dried tomatoes, garlic and mayonnaise.
Buffalo Caprese
Buffalo milk mozzarella served with sliced tomato, basil and a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil.
INSALATA
Mixed Greens Salad
Spring mix with oven roasted grape tomatoes, cucumbers and white balsamic roasted onions tossed in a lemon dill vinaigrette.
Caesar Salad
Crisp romaine lettuce tossed with our own caesar dressing and freshly baked croutons.
PIATTI PRINCIPALI
Spinach and Cheese Ravioli
Half moon ravioli, stuffed with spinach and ricotta cheese, sautéed with shallots and sun-dried tomatoes in a light cream sauce.
Stuffed Chicken
Breast of chicken stuffed with sun-dried tomato, spinach and goat cheese, with a red wine sauce.
Filet Mignon
Pan seared Filet Mignon finished with a wild mushroom ragout.
Fish of the Day
Chef select fresh fish of the day.
DOLCI
Valentino
Belgian chocolate cup filled with brandy, whipped cream and chocolate and served over homemade raspberry sauce.
Tiramisu
Ladyfingers dipped in espresso and liqueurs, layered with mascarpone cheese and zabaglione sauce.
The wedding I went to last month had caprese salad,( as well as the wonderful chopped salad!), lasagne, chicken parmesan. And bruschetta as an appetizer.
This among other things.
Our engagement dinner was italian, salad, small apps and a choice of salmon in a plum sauce, chicken caprese and a pesto flank steak. Our rehearsal dinner will be irish and wedding italian again. Roasted veg, parm risotto and a choice of Gorgonzola crusted steak, portobello chicken and pan roasted halibut. Not sure about the vegetarian choice.
Our caterer was “modern Italian.” Our entrees were roasted chicken breast with orzo, baby carrots, and wild mushroo madeira sauce, herb roasted rack of lamb with truffle mashed potatoes, asparagus, and port reduction sauce, and house-made pesto ricotta ravioli with roasted tomato basil. It was all delicious ๐
We had been thinking about arancini for an appetizer, maybe caprese salad, for drink aperol spritz, and some local desserts, not sure about main course, but then we decided for non Italian wedding:(
Following because we are planning on having our tiny wedding reception/dinner (maybe 15 people max) at an Italian restaurant. I can’t decide if we should do the prix fixe menu (similar to what is posted above) or just let everyone order off the menu. We are not fancy eaters and I want everyone to be comfortable/happy with their meal. I suspect ordering off the menu may also be cheaper!
