I don’t have pics, sorry, but I definitely thought I wanted straps of some sort and when I tried them on they looked terrible so I ended up with strapless. I knew I wanted lace though, which I Did get.

What I thought I wanted:

As a little girl I always dreamt of a princess dress. But once I tried on this dress it just felt right- modest enough for a church wedding, tradutional, but a bit mlre grown up. I still love it!

I thought I wanted a sheath dress, specifically The Layla dress by Wilderly

I chose a tulle ball gown; The Lange dress from BHLDN

I really loved these two before shopping, but the shop I went to had just sold the long sleeve and didn’t carry the sleeveless. I did try on a similar style to the long sleeve and I hated it on me.

What I ended up with (I hate strapless, so I almost didn’t try it on) I am adding sleeves shown below as well- tulle for those will be the color of the sample on my arm and lace will match my dress).

For fun, here’s MY actual dress!

Sleeve color:

Will look like this:

I thought I wanted a mermaid dress but I just didn’t like them on me . Felt too self conscious. I ended up with this….

I was in love with the Opaline gown from BHLDN, but when I decided to have a courthouse wedding at SF City Hall that dress felt too grand.

So after quite a few bridal appointments, I found this gorgeous beaded dress with a 1920s vibe.

Our wedding hasn’t happened yet, but I can’t wait to see how it looks the day of and in professional pictures!

chitownyogini :  thank you so much! That is such a great compliment as that is what I’m trying to achieve with my overall wedding vibe, but haven’t been sure about my dress having enough of that edge (despite loving it regardless!)

As you can see, I expected to find myself in a deep V gown. I quickly learned sleeves were not for me. I ended up with a sweetheart strapless A line. Exactly what I said absolutely no to originally. I gained weight before the wedding and barely got my dress zippered. 😝😂
