Locked myself in a dark room with no means to communicate with the outside world and slept.

The only one allowed in my sanctuary was one of my female shepherds, my babygirl of the bunch. She and I slept, most wonderfully, for houurss. It was absolutely glorious.

That and wine and baths, but if I had to pick one – sleep.

I got really expensive highlights (~$500) a couple weeks before, and I got a massage about 4 days before the wedding. It was a godsend. I also did a fancy boozy bonding lunch with my mother and mother-in-law to be the week prior.

Like another PP I also got really into sleep. I didn’t sleep less than 8.5 hours a night for about 3 weeks leading up to the wedding, including a couple nights where I used Nyquil to make sure I slept through. (I did have some trouble sleeping the few days beforehand, but it wasn’t for lack of trying.)

I bought really nice facial products because I wanted to have a beautiful, clear face for my wedding. That and I got a full brazilian for the honeymoon 🙂

I’ve been thinking about this too. A lot of articles say to start getting regular facials six months out but that sounds really pricey to me. I’m planning to get a facial a week or two before the wedding but in the meantime I just splurged on a few skincare items – a Clarisonic face brush and some supplements (BioSil) that are supposed to encourage collagen production and be good for skin/hair/nails. I haven’t started my new regimen yet but I’m excited. I figure the cost of the supplements + face brush is the same as a one or two nice facials, so I’m hoping they pay off.

I also splurged on my wedding jewelry. I got a few art deco costume jewelry pieces on Etsy and I splurged on real sapphire earrings for my something blue. In my defense my dress was really inexpensive, so I figured this was a tradeoff to have something that I felt more justified spending money on since I can wear the jewelry again.

Kind of a lot, now that I think about it.

I hired a personal trainer (best money I’ve ever spent, still use her), started getting monthly facials (still doing that, too). The week of the wedding, I got a body scrub and massage (WONDERFULLY relaxing) and a mani/pedi. I also stayed in our “getting ready” and wedding night suite the night before the wedding. It was so nice to go to bed (and wake up) in a beautiful, relaxing environment without worrying about our dog, the house, etc. I could just get pampered (hair and makeup came to us at the suite). And then it was all clean when we arrived on our wedding night thanks to housekeeping!

Oh. And all of the wine.

Hair/nails/eyelash extensions, but I didn’t consider them a treat as much as I considered them a chore (had to get them done for the wedding).

I would have to second tiffanybruiser :  – lots of wine! I ended up having a bottle (or two) of the bottles we had bought for the wedding in the week before, and I’m glad I did because I didn’t end up drinking at all on our wedding day!

browneyedgirl24 :  I would strongly, strongly advise you to test drive your facialist several months out from the wedding to make sure you don’t have a bad reaction to any products or techniques they use. I’ve had facials that have broken me out horribly, bruised me (rough extractions) or given me rashes/made my skin peel and I’d hate for that to happen to you just a couple weeks out from your wedding!

I bought myself a lot of skin care items. I got a manicure/pedicure. I got so hooked on the mani/pedi that now I get them regularly.

I’ve been getting massages and enjoying the spa. I’m considering sneaking in one last spa day before the wedding.

I decided to treat myself with a seaweed body wrap the week before my wedding and I was surprised that I did lose several inches! Plus I felt great and relaxed.

londonbeeee :  DH and I both got massages the weekend before the wedding. I also bought a very expensive skincare line for 1 year before my wedding in attempts to have clear skin. I, of course, got a huge zit the morning of my wedding, and have since switched to a cheaper skin care treatment, and actually have MUCH clearer skin, go figure!
