I like reading threads here about childhood stories and experiences. As, a 6-year old, I remember I told my parents my dream was to work at the super market we frequented on the weekends. I just have happy memories grocery shopping with my grandma or my parents when I was little. Of course, things changed as I got older. I ended up finishing a science degree from the university years later. I smile every time I remember this and how different things are now. So bees, tell me what you wanted to be when you were a child compared to what you do now.

Archeologist. And then I found out they made no money, so I decided to be an actress instead.

Now pursueing a masters in hotel admin so I can be on the business side of entertainment in hotel casinos. Still figuring it out but having fun along the way.

I wanted to be a flight attendant. We traveled a lot and as a kid, I would sit in my room by myself and play and practice, ” good morning Northwest passengers and welcome aboard flight 225 to the twin cities of Minneapolis/St. Paul and further on to Orlando Florida. We ask at this time that you extinguish all smoking materials and do refrain from smoking until the captain has turned off the no smoking sign. During the flight you will have a choice of either chicken or beef for dinner, as well as a selection of non alcoholic beverages at no charge……………….” Well you get the picture!!!!! Lol!!!!

I wanted to be a primatologist like Jane Goodall and teach primates sign language; lofty goals for a ten year old.
A few years later I switched to aspire to do art (of some variety)–which is what I do now.

I remember lots of the little girls I knew wanted to be veterinarians. None of them ever became one and all ended up with art degrees. I guess the math & science requirements were just too much.

I wanted to be an Egyptologist. My mom was really freaked out when I wanted a book about mummies when I was four; she thought it was morbid. I think at some point in time I just decided the lifestyle wasn’t really what I wanted, although I think if I had focused on the scholarly side and studied ancient Egyptian culture as opposed to working at a dig site, that would have been a neat route to go. I actually did take Hieroglyphs in college for a semester! My professor urged me to go to Chicago to study it further, but I ended up sticking with English Lit instead. Because there are so many jobs for lit majors (eye roll). I actually ended up selling wedding gowns in grad school and am still dabbling in the bridal business along with doing PR and social media work. I need to decide what I want to be when I grow up again!

My mom saved a journal that I was required to write in when I was in first grade (the teacher would give us topics each day to write about). Apparently I wanted to be in the circus. Then at another time wanted to be a stay at home mom.
🙂 so funny
