When I was 12, I wanted to be a doctor. In 10 weeks, I will be!

I wanted to be an astronaut.  I would totally still love to be one; but I suck at math and science…le sigh.

I am actually a middle school teacher. Big difference!

An explosions photographer! They are someone who follows buildings set for demolition and photographers the explosion and collapse of the building.

Then I went to high school and a couple of science camps and figured out that I wanted to be a plant biotechnologist and work on Groomsmen plants. I’m in my honours year now (in Australia Honours is after undergraduate and is a year of research in the lab writing a thesis) and still loving it. 🙂

At 12–An OB/GYN.  I actually wasn’t phased one bit by the birthing video I saw.  Now…I don’t know that I’d be able to watch.

Now–I majored in dance in college and taught it at the high school level for a year.  I’ve been teaching elementary school for two years now and love it.

I wanted to be a doctor (probably a pediatrician).  I’ll have my doctorate in a year… but it’s in pharmacy instead.  Considering all the possibilities, I think i ended up pretty close to what I was hoping for as a 12 year old.

Right until the time I was 12 I wanted to be Indiana Jones- hat, whip and all.

Then, at 12, I saw the movie Outbreak and decided I needed to be a virologist. I wanted nothing more than to work for the CDC and wear a BSL-4 suit. That got me interested in science, though I later decided brains were cooler than viruses and now I’m a neuroscientist (like Miss Tartlet)!

I wanted to be a journalist right up until I graduated high school and woke up one day realising there was no way I could do it. (Plus hearing about one woman who wrote the obituaries for 7 years kinda put me off) So I went with the back up plan I had since I was 6 and am now at Uni studying to be a teacher. I love it!! 🙂

When I was 13 or 14 I decided that I wanted to be an architect.  Now after a bachelors and a masters degree, I’m finally working as a full time architect!  I first got into it because I wanted to design houses and I was good at math.  My opinion has changed a lot since then.  I’ve come to realize that it’s much more artistic, and that a painting class was much more helpful than AP Calculus.

I’m glad to see that there are other architects on WB!

When I was younger (like, elementary school) I also wanted to be a marine biologist! I thought that was oddly specific but it’s nice to see a lot of other bees had the same idea! But then I realized that I am TERRIBLE at math and not all that interested in science.

When I was 12, I wanted to be an author. I wanted to go to college and major in English and magically become a famous author like J.K. Rowling (hahaha). Then I read Moby Dick and decided there was no way in hell I could get through 4 years of college like that.

Now I’m at college majoring in communications and spanish, hoping to be a public relations specialist. Not bad!
