I apparently told my parents, when I was like five, that when I grew up I wanted to “manage my trust fund.” HHAHA.
In middle school I wanted to be a pediatric oncologist…but then I thought I was bad at science so I gave that up. What the hell, teenage Peach? You were not bad at science!!!
In high school I thought maybe I’d…figure it all out in college.
In college I thought I might go to law school…or get a PhD and teach college.
So now I’m a reading specialist.
But I think what I really want to be is more of a literacy specialist, where I help teachers teach literacy in their content areas, and then help the students who need extra support as well.
And when I am older I want to be a professor of children’s literature.
And also I should be a writer I think.

I wanted to be a barber apparently, according to my grade 1 book.
Grew up to be a polysomnographer. Lord, I can’t wait to do something else.

I wanted to be a Lawyer.
I’m now a Governess.
Just a wee bit different – though I still use my debating skills!

I wanted to be a lawyer. Then I failed out of a legal studies undergrad because I hated it. Then somehow ended up being a neuroscientist-in-training (don’t have doctorate yet), even though I had 0 science background.

I wanted to be… A horse. No joke. After I grew up a little and realized that wasnt possible, I wanted to be a vet. Now… I have no clue. I still want to work with animals, but I dont think I could stomach being a vet. I also wouldnt mind working with kids, but I dont know what exactly I’d like to do in that department. I wouldnt mind working at a daycare if it paid more.
@BrandNewBride: Whats an infant room teacher?

When I was in elementary school, I wanted to be a writer. That persisted for quite some time.
Now I’m a high school history teacher! I always considered teaching, but always thought I wasn’t the right person for it. I LOVE teaching!

When I was 3 years old, I told my parents I was going to grow up to become a Vet. I kept that dream alive for 15 years, even worked at an animal hospital and went to school for it. Then one day I realized I fell in love with the idea of helping animals, but I’m against euthanizing, so I knew I couldn’t stay in that field.
I also knew when I was very young if I didn’t do that, I would be a Hairstylist. Little over 20 years later, I am a Hairstylist and Makeup Artist.

I wanted to be a florist or an interior decorator.
Now I’m a lawyer. But I still kind of wish I was a florist or an interior decorator!

@allyfally: Sounds a bit like me. I am still looking for the perfect job with animals. I did try working with babies as an infant room teacher also. Basically, I got paid minimum wage to change diapers, get spit up on, and see how many screaming babies I could tollerate before I snapped. It wasn’t bad, but may have been more enjoyable if I hadn’t of taken the job for the main purpose of facing my fears. lol
When I was a kid I only wanted to be a Veterinarian. Specialized small animal surgery. Ok, the last part was in my teens. I was pre-vet in college but got my Bachelors in Biology. I lucked out and now work in the veterinary diagnostic lab of our college, doing research with viruses and immunological testing. I still don’t know what the next step in my career should be, but I would love to work with small animals, specifically exotics. For now, I settle for livestock.

I wanted to be a teacher for FOREVER! (Still do really!) But now I’m an RN. Maybe I’ll go back to school to be a nursing teacher 🙂
@southern_sweetheart91: Good luck in nursing school! I just graduated in May and I am soooo very glad to be done!
