When I was really young, I wanted to be a ballerina. During the ’96 Olympics, I changed that to wanting to become a gymnast — that entire summer, I practiced walking on anything and everything that could be turned into a “balance beam” and created “floor routines” in my parents’ living room (Imagination is a wonderful thing as a kid, isn’t it?)

At some point, I shifted my focus to wanting to become an engineer because I loved building and fixing things (and my mom completely refused to allow me to take dance or gymnastics).

During high school, I decided I wanted to be a journalist.

In college, I chose to become a psychologist. I’ll have my Master’s next month, and my doctorate 3 years after that. Hard to believe I only have one year of actual coursework left!!

a news reporter. – I made up fake news stories, sat behind the kitchen table and recorded myself giving the fake news about animals who escaped the zoo.

a cinematographer/cartoon producer.  I used to record cartoons on MTV, on liquid television (gosh that dates me) and then I would dub different voices over it.

Lastly, a professional wrestler.  My sister and I are total tomboys and we might have thought we were going to be the next “mighty bushwackers” (again totally dates me)

I went through a lot of phases as a child. At one point I wanted to be a flight attendant, then a pop star, then an oncologist, then a Broadway actress, then a party clown, then a professor of “stuff” (yes, I actually said I wanted to teach “stuff” when questioned). Now I’m an auditor. Bummer, lol.

An astronaut, a pro soccer player, an archaeologist, and I’m sure I fantasized about having some behind-the-scenes job on a Hanson tour.
