I was fully convinced I would be an Egyptologist and explore the pyramids. Now I’m a Technical Writer at a software company. So…a little different. 😛

I wanted to be an orange farmer. Can’t tell you why, because I don’t know. I just really wanted to grow oranges.

I am instead a personal trainer. I do have a dwarf lemon tree on my balcony, but that’s hardly an orange grove.

I’ve always been drawn to the science and medical field. While I’m not sure I can obtain my dream of being a obgyn or midwife, I have decided to go back to school to become a medical assistant. This choice will give me an introduction into the medical field. In the future I would like to go to school to be a lvn and then do lvn-rn program. But who knows, I might love my job as a medical assistant.

As young as I can remember a veterinarian. I am a veterinarian, but non practicing. It turns out that the horrendous hours vets work led to burn out pretty quickly and the crap salary can no way ever hope to repay the 6 figures of debt I owe for going to vet school. Two other vets I knew have died by suicide in the last year and another was killed instantly from a kick from a horse. “Living the dream” has been a huge disappointment 🙁

I’ve always wanted to be a doctor, thanks to my very ambitious parents. After undergrad and a masters degree, I’m now in my first year of medical school! It may have started out as my parents idea, but I truly do love medicine.

In early elementary school, I bounced between wanting to be a pediatrician or a lawyer.  By middle school, I decided I wanted to be a fiction writer and a professor, which is what I ended up becoming.  Apparently I knew myself pretty well by the age of 12.

Actor, singer, fashion designer…. I started college for engineering, changed my major and ended up a neurobiologist. TBH, I still don’t know if that’s what I want to be when I grow up.

Fashion (well, specifically, pajama bottom designer) –> Professional scrapbooker (haha) –> Graphic designer/magazine editor/art director/journalist in early college.

Now I’m an urban planner and it actually uses a lot of my design and writing skills!

I wanted to be an artist! I loved arts and crafts so much. I still do, just lack the time to create things often anymore.

I do administrative support work in various social services or student affairs offices, usually as first point of contact. Never thought I’d end up doing that!

vatoca1016 :  Originally wanted to be an art teacher or gallery director, then I got into politics and worked in it for awhile. Couldn’t get my career going and fell into the legal sector. Still trying to get my career going here and I have some regrets about schooling but I’m assessing the situation right now. Great topic!
