I’m wondering what other peopld have brought to wear on tropical honeymoons. Fiance and I will go going to Barbados and St. Lucia for 10 days in May/June and I’ve been thinking about what clothes I need to start accumulating. For 6 days of the trip we’ll be at Sandals where we’ll have our own plunge pool and hot tub, and in Barbados we’ll have our own hot tub too, so I’m imagining I’ll be in a bathing suit a lot. We’ll probably go to the beach in both places and do some excursions, etc.
How many bathing suits do you think would be good? And btw, I’m borderline plus sized so no inexpensive bikinis for me :(. I have 2 good ones right now, thinking a third? I really hate to put on a wet suit, but not sure I should spend over $100 per suit to get a 4th.
What other clothes would be good? I’m thinking maybe a sundress or 2? Something for a nice dinner?

If you have 2 suits, you should be good. Remember you are going to a tropical place, your suits will dry quickly if you hang them outside. I wore a lot of loose sundresses and flowy skirts. I brought lots of tank tops and a couple pairs of shorts. I also brought a couple nice outfits for dinner.

i would bring at least one or two nice dresses in case you guys want to dress up for dinner or something (be sure to check your resort, i know our resort had 1 or 2 restaurants where you werent allowed to wear shorts or flip flops to dinner).
i lived in bathing suits, cover ups, sundresses and flip flops. I pretty much wore a swinsuit and cover ups all day – the more casual restaurants didnt require you to have “real” clothes on for lunch so i saw no need to change. I think 2 bathing suits would be enough, but its your honeymoon! splurge and by another 🙂 you can never have too many.
i’d bring a pair of running shoes just in case you guys do any adventure activities 🙂

@RoyalLime: i second what she said. also for the beach, i had a couple of wrap arounds/saraongs so when i wanted to get up for a drink or anything, i wasn’t always walking around in my bikini.

We went to Maui and I brought a few loose flowy sundresses, 1 or 2 long, nicer dresses for going out at night, lots of tank tops, shorts, capri pants, tee shirts and 2 bathing suits. Lindsey’s right, they will dry very quickly. I also took a few pairs of flipflops, nicer wedges for going out, and 1 pair of sneakers. I even packed a lightweight hoodie.

When I was on our honeymoon (In jamaica at a Sandals resort) I wayyyy over packed… I wore a bathing suit 90% of the time. I had two bathing suits and would have like to have atleast one more. So I would suggest bringing more than two. Bring a bunch of easy cover ups, summer “dresses”… I wish I had more. and like the others have said bring a nice dress or two with heels to have a nice dinner.

I did a 10 day beach honeymoon at St John. All I needed/used was 2 bathing suits, and a cover up for most days. Then I brought shorts, skirt, 3 t shirts, and a sun dress. A pair of flip flops and dressier sandels/wedges.

My bathing suits seem to take forever to dry, even in the summer, but maybe it’ll be different in a tropical climate. I just wish I was thinner and could buy $16 bathing suits like Fiance did yesterday. I guess I’ll need to find some good cover ups and sun dresses, but not sure where to start looking. Might be too soon, also.

Fiance and I went to Barbados for 10 days last summer, I am so jealous of you! We went in July. I brought 2 bathing suits (1 to wear while 1 dries every day). I brought a few cover ups that I could walk around town in (sometimes after the beach, we would go for a drive around the island). We went ziplining and did some off roading and walked around on some rocky cliffs so I brought some sneakers and tevas as well as some grungy shorts for that. A couple of nice dresses because I knew we were going out to some restaraunts with dress codes. Most of the time, I wore my bathing suit under shorts and a tank top or a sundress and flip flops. Depending on what activities you plan on doing may add to what you need to bring. Have fun! We loved it!

@Future MrsB: My favorite cover up is a (long) sarong i bought from some lady on the beach in the bahamas a few years back. you can wear it so many different ways!
Have you looked at target? they have some really great one piece bathings suits! check marshalls too – i found a few there last year for around 30 bucks that i love
