This might not be any help if you’re looking for something less tight but I wore something called a Body Magic.

I just wore a white lacey thong that said “Bride” on it.  There was no way I was putting on any extra constricting layers in the August heat.  Sorry that’s probably no help to you.

My strapless a-line silk organza dress has boning in the top, so in theory I didn’t need anything. That being said, I just purchased a bridal/white bustier from Nordstrom and a matching hanky-panky thong. I need a little shapewear to easily zip my dress and originally I wanted shapewear but the associate thought it may be a little bit of an overkill to include it.

I actually had a corset made (like turn of the century corset with steel boning, etc). Its definitely not for everyone but I love the look of a super cinched waist, plus, because of my dress style, I can’t reach down discreetly and readjust shapewear should it start to move, shift, slide up/down, etc, so I wanted something that would stay super duper in place and give me a defined hourglass shape all day. It also gives me a lot of back support which is great when you’ll be on your feet running around from 8 AM to probably 1 or 2AM. Corsets get such a bad rap for being uncomfortable but if you get one made by a skilled corset-maker and fitted to your exact measurements, its really comfortable. Corsetry is definitely not for everyone but its a fun and sexy idea and im so excited to wear mine!

@Gavinsmamma:  It was really fun meeting with my corsetier and deciding on fabrics and trying on the different styles!! I actually just picked mine up today and have been wearing it all day (corsets do have a break-in period, so its good to wear it a bunch before the wedding but once its broken in, it will be completely molded to your body – it wont fit anyone else properly but you!).

I found my corsetmaker through a friend who had met her at a corset/period dress expo. My friend had tried on a bunch of her corsets and was raving. So I contacted her and we met and went from there! You can probably google something like “custom corset + zip code” or “corsetmaker + zip code” and see what options you find in your area. You may have to drive a little as there aren’t tons of corset makers around but its totally worth it! I definitely would recommend meeting with someone in person so they can measure you and stuff. There are a bunch of online shops and even corset makers on etsy but most of the corsets are non-returnable (because they’re made to order) and who knows if it will fit properly or what style you prefer or what the quality is like? So if you can meet in person, that’s always best. Good luck!
