For our “formal” proposal outdoors I wore a cream knitted sweater and skinny black jeans.

We had gotten caught in the rain out biking and we were drenched basically (1h bike ride in the heavy rain home from the beach and out on the countryside so absolutely nowhere to seek shelter from the rain) . He proposed as soon as we got inside πŸ™ˆ He had planned to propose I later found out when we were at the deserted beach but could not really work up the nerve and was looking for the perfect moment πŸ˜‚. Lovely proposal but I would not use my outfit as any inspiration πŸ˜…πŸ˜œ

I proposed to him on Christmas Eve and I remember I was wearing jeans. I am not sure if I was wearing a Doctor Who or Harry Potter fanshirt or a sweater that says “Gin-gle bells”. I do know what HE was wearing though πŸ˜‰ I had given him a T-shirt for Christmas and he’d just put it on.

Total surprise! We were having  a movie marathon in bed and I was wearing flannel drawstring pants, as was he. One movie ended and he got up and said he wanted some ice cream so he was wearing the male version.  He came back with ice cream, champagne and a velvet pouch  with a family ring and asked me to marry him.

He had been getting  lot of texts during the afternoon and it turned out to be my boys who were giddy that he was going to propose. Turns out he had given them $100 to steer of the house until they got th all-clear.

We all celebrated by gong out to diunner that night.

I was wearing baggy, dirty, muddy jeans, muddy steel toe work boots, and a cheap t-shirt.

I was at work, at a mine. It was a total surprise. πŸ™‚

roseandcoil :  I was naked and he was wearing boxers, with little palm trees. πŸ˜€

If I had been able to choose what I was going to wear, I would have liked to wear jeans and a low cut top.

I had just woken up and was on my way to the bathroom. He insisted I come to the living room to talk about something first.

This really annoyed me, because he knows I need to pee as soon as I wake up. I told him to hang on, but he said “No I need you right now”, and I went from mildly irritated to pissed off. I stomped out and barked “WHAT!? I NEED TO PEE!”

He was on one knee, in his underwear. No ring. One of our cats was sitting beside him, with his paws on my boyfriend’s thigh, trying to jump on him.

I didn’t understand what I was seeing. I had just woken up, I’m a deep sleeper. I remember staring at him, wondering what he was doing. Thinking things like “What the hell does he want? Can’t this wait? I have to pee so bad.”

As he was kneeling there with this big grin on his face.

He asked me to marry him.

I kept staring at him. Processing this information.  … boyfriend… naked…I’m tired…floor….cat… I HAVE TO PEE SO BAD…

I told him to stay put and I went to the bathroom.

Came back and he was still on one knee, his smile looking strained at this point.

I asked him to repeat himself, which he did. I said “Okay, yes.”

In retrospect that was not a very graceful acceptance on my part, but he sprung this on me the moment I got out of bed. Neither of us had showered or brushed their teeth. My hair (which is 2 feet long) was a fright to behold. It was not romantic at all.

I’ve always assumed he didn’t think things through due to nerves or something. It’s not like he just got a ring and the excitement was killing him. He asked me years before buying a ring.

When I read about other people getting engaged at a nice restaurant, or in a hot air balloon ride or a river cruise, I cannot relate to them at all.

Lol, my now Fiance, and I were both in full winter hiking gear. I was fairly certain he was going to propose on this hiking trip, because we had especially planned to visit this mountain lake with our friends. I chose to do a more glam makeup look, instead of “pretty” clothes. It was still super cute. I’m sure whatever you you’ll look great with whatever outfit you choose. Are you 100% certain that you know when he will propose? Did you decide an exact date together?

roseandcoil :  Unlike some bees here, I had no idea when he was gonna propose. We just talked about getting married around 6 months prior and that was the only hint. Although looking back, I should have picked up it was a hint that he told me to look cute (basically wear makeup, let hair down and don’t wear sweats/sneakers bec he was secretly recording it) cause we were gonna go somewhere kinda casual but nice for dinner and get my nails done. I wore a black blouse, light blue floral scarf, dark blue fitted denims and some tan/nude ballerina flats.

roseandcoil :  honestly I wouldn’t try too hard. Just wear something nice when you go out and don’t worry if it’s going to happen this time or that time. Because you will never know exactly when he is going to propose unless he straight tells you and if you think it’s going to happen on this day or that cause you want to look perfect and you stress yourself out trying to look and be perfect for the perfect time and it doesn’t happen when you anticipated, all that’s going to do is stress you out and make you anxious and then anxiety leads us women in to being kind of crazy and neurotic and paranoid and no body wants that lol. So if you know you’re going out, just dress nice. Whatever you think is appropriate at the time for wherever you’re going. Enjoy the night whether you think he will propose or not because even if you were in yoga pants and a t shirt like a pp said, it’s going to be beautiful and you are going to be beautiful regardless. I didn’t know I was going to get engaged and i was in a hoodie and leggings with my hair all messed up in a bun with no make up lol and it still was beautiful!

samael :  lmao that made me laugh so hard. Mine was similar but we hadn’t been together long, I was clothed but looked like a hobo because I had recently gotten out of the hospital (I was really sick) and was recuperating on the couch and he didn’t have a ring either. He just kind of went in to a long speech about how much he cared about me (I didn’t know where it was going because we can be vocal about our feelings) and he went on to ask me to marry him. I was in shock because we had been together 6 weeks and I was dressed like a hobo on his couch and he didn’t have a ring lol honestly didn’t matter, I loved him too. I get my ring which has taken over a year to design and make next week! But as far as an engagement I knew about or in public, I will never be able to relate to those either :-p him in his boxers and you naked is pretty funny though :,)

I asked him on our 4th anniversary  celebration. I was wearing a hi-low white dress with a neckline that would gurantee his agreement. I hadn’t planned on proposing, but it was such a nice night.

It looked something like this, but no designs, just plain white.
