The night we got engaged :
A few days after when I got a gel mani:
My fiance insisted that I should get my nails done for christmas lol, right there and then I had a feeling he was going to propose. Your looking at a girl who never gets her nails done….. Oh and on top of that he bought tickets for us to go to the empire state building This Picture was taken the day after
I knew the proposal was coming soon, so for about a month before he proposed, I was experimenting with nail polish designs, trying out new ones every week. I ended up having light pink to purple ombre nails, with glitter on the ring finger, on the big day:
I knew the proposal was coming because the timeline we had was coming to an end, but I had been waiting for months so I was just like whatevs I won’t paint my nails bc it’s not happening today. Then bam it happened. So my nails were bare naked but I didn’t care. I was as happy as could be regardless of my nail color (or lack thereof) 😀
BananaBao: I’m on the same boat, now I love doing my nails (doing it while watching Netflix is a winning combo). I do my nails weekly and sometimes twice a week. So if he should pop the question there is a great chance that my nails will look fine. It will be really funny/ironic if he caught me on the tail end of the week though -_-
Mine were freshly painted and my normal pinky/neutral color. They had actually looked terrible that morning and we were going to an event that I had written off as a potential proposal opportunity so I wasn’t too worried if I didn’t have time to fix them. Luckily everything (hair, make-up, getting dressed) went eerily perfect (never ever happens when I have a deadline!) So I’d actually had plenty of time right before we left to paint them (which also went eerily perfect). It was kind of awesome in retrospect!
I love all of your proposal nails! I can’t believe I got so many responses over night, I would respond to all of yours if I could! Thank you for sharing
I pretty much always have my nails painted, but once I knew we were “in the engagement window” I definitely paid more attention. I almost always wore OPI’s “Otherwise Engaged” as sort of a joke. But it’s stayed one of my favorites. I will probably wear it with sparkly tips on my wedding day like below. The day he proposed I was wearing this but with sparkles on just the whole ring-finger nail. It was Thanksgiving.
Lol they looked AWFUL! We moved from NC to Michigan less than 12 hours later, and it was a surprise. We had spent all day packing, getting the moving truck and trailer, and doing last minute things. I desperately wanted to get engaged in NC because that’s where we met and had our life together, and all of our memories were there, but I had basically come to terms with the fact that it wasn’t happening. My nails and cuticles were shredded, honestly.
My boyfriend made it really obvious he was proposing (although he swears he’s a good secret keeper) so I was able to paint my nails a few hours before he got to my house.
Mine looked like I had just spent the whole day rock climbing in the rain (because thats what we were doing- he proposed on top of Mt. Katahdin)- so scraped up, chipped, and on terribly destroyed hands. The ring actually didn’t fit on my finger when he asked because they were so swollen from the trip up.
My nails were a neutral shade (probably Essie Madmoiselle). I was lucky they were painted because he proposed when we were on a hike, but thankfully we were going to a concert that night so I quickly painted them before we had gone for the hike.
Here’s a picture from right after (before the ring was sized down)…
