  • poll: How much did your ring cost?

    Under $500

    $500-$1,000

    $1,000-$2,500

    $2,500-$5,000

    $5,000-$10,000

    $10,000-$15,000

    Above $15,000

It was a bargain! We could have paid more, but instead we saved.

It was perfectly within our budget. Just the right price.

@HeatherMM:  There is something about diamonds paired with blue stones that immediately make me think of royaltiy, and not just Princess Diana. The ring upthread with the diamond flanked by two sapphires gives me that same feeling: a princess ring.

    Yours is so beautiful!

Engagement ring: rose gold, 2.75 carats, color:I, clarity: sI1, cut:ideal. Size 8. It was over 10,000. That’s all my fiancé will tell me lol. Rather it was just about 10 grand or way over I have no clue. Wedding band is rose gold eternity, 3 carats and was around 3 grand.  Again he won’t tell me the specifics on the price lol

Ok, the price of only the sapphire ring, (not including my new anniversary band pictured with it), was 14k, because it’s unheated, untreated ceylon sapphire.  Though I got a great deal on the stone by my jeweler friend, who found this gem for me, the setting added to the pricehand made by a well known sculptor/ jeweler in my area, and his work isn’t inexpensive. For me, it was an upgrade from my original set, which was a champagne/yellow diamond set. That was about 4.5k, but I wanted a blue gem and something larger for my large hands! Ring size 7.5 and wide, long hands.

bluegemz :  It’s beautiful! Gorgeous color of blue.I am obsessed with everything sapphire lately. If I had all the money in the world to spend on a ring, I would definitely choose a blue sapphire. But I would also love a huge bright red ruby too! Or maybe a big Mahenge Spinel. Colored stones are my favorite.

lollipoppins :  thank you! I’m totally with you, my heart is with colored gems! You have a gorgeous sapphire ring as well. Like you, I would LOVE to eventually get a mahenge spinel, or maybe a true Australian, deep black opal with a lot of blue in it, or a mandarine spessartite ring! Jeez, it feels endless lol!

While I am uncomfortable giving my ring quote on a public forum, I will say it was very very expensive.  My Fiance was determined to get me a big fancy ring because I had never had an engagment ring even though I was married befoe for over 26 years.

With that said, we found a designer setting we loved and purchased the diamonds ourselves, had a custom jeweler make the setting in platinum and it ended up costing thousands less than the designer ring in the store which had much smaller stones and was white gold!  The stone quality was equal.

BEEelegant :  I don’t see a different between quoting the price (people might think your bragging) and stating that it was “very very expensive” (people will most assuredly think you’re bragging.)

I’m curious to know price AND stats! It’s a really beautiful ring. 🙂 Do you have more pics?

And I’m glad that your Fiance wanted to, and could afford to, get you what you wanted.

duchessgummybunns :  My idea of very expensive and someone elses may be different.  I just feel like that information is private to my Fiance and I.  I was not trying to brag, but find myself so stunned that he is so giving compared to what i was used to – it just takes my breath away.  It is hard to resist posting pics when these ring posts come up!

The center diamond is just over 3 ct and each side stone is .40.  All stones are H VS1. It is hard to see in that pic that this is a 5 stone ring.  The center stone is set very high and I was concerned that it would get caught and bumped a lot – but so far – that has not been the case.

Ugh, sorry that the pic came out so huge.  Appraised at ~$38K.  The most beautiful thing i have ever seen.

Reviving a 3 year-thread to brag about how expensive your ring was? Oh dear.

I think this thread is very helpful to people. Real life examples of what you can get with just about any budget, from all over the spectrum of stone and setting types.

I don’t really feel it’s bragging, I mean it you don’t have to be a genius to understand diamond going rates. Just posting a clear pic with some stats is enough to give away the approximate cost.
