We did a “grand finale” song where everyone gathered on the dance floor and sang/danced along. We used Journey – “Don’t Stop Believing” and it was probably my favorite part of the reception.

Well, we are big Yankee fans and we are from NY so we wanted the night to kind of begin and end with something that was very much “us”.

Our entrance song was Enter Sandman by Metallica and we ended it off with New York, New York by Sinatra and all of the guests were asked by the DJ to get in a circle on the dance floor and we did a kickline. It was pretty cool.

We used Champagne Supernova by Oasis. It was one of the most epic moments of the night.

Boston_MrsS_to_be:  We decided, at the last minute, to play “Closing Time” and have the DJ announce where the afterparty was for all the people who didn’t get the memo. It was the perfect song, because we didn’t want to go home, but the reception was over.

This was the easiest song for me to pick, lol. And really the only one i’ve decided on.

Big Jet Plane by Angus & Julia Stone https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yFTvbcNhEgc

I think we’re using ‘Here’s To Us’ by Halestorm. I figure most people who will be offended by the f-bombs will be gone when we play it at 1am.

Fi wanted it for our first dance, but he hates the edited version and the Glee version so we compromised with last dance.

nadnuk:  have you seen the video about the writer’s true meaning for “Closing Time”?  It’s adorable – been circulating on Facebook recently.

We had an afternoon reception, no big finale.  We just decided we were gonna leave and someone got everyone ready for our exit.  Kinda boring…

donna_saur:  Now I’m tearing up. I’m pregnant right now, so it’s a bit poignant for it to be a song about expecting his son.

We used Take Me To The River, the live version from Talking Heads album Stop Making Sense. We had all the guests gather on the dance floor in a circle for us to say goodbye and thanks to each person, so wanted a long song, it’s about 7 minutes. We chose it just because we liked the song, don’t know if the meaning fits at all!

Friends in Low Places by Garth Brooks. It was the easiest song choice for us!
