My fience and I have always had this thing that we did. I would say together and he would then say forever. So on our wedding bands mine will have (together) and his will have (forever) we are debating to add our wedding date along with it or not.

MrsBuesleBee:  My husband engraved mine with “As you wish” from Princess Bride. I engraved his with “Luke 12:34” (“Where your heart is your treasure is”) which, while religious was also a reference to Harry Potter. Cuz I’m a big nerd.

My husband’s band isn’t engraved, but I’m thinking I’d like to get “dishwasher is for dirty dishes – not the sink.” His band is pretty wide so I’m sure our jeweler can make it fit with some small dainty lettering.

DH wanted an engagement ring to show he was taken.  So I saved up and got him a sapphire to match mine. Inside, I had engraved SHMILY. It comes from a story in Chicken Soup for the Soul. It’s told by a girl who tells the story of her grandparents. They would always do random acts of kindness for each other. When they did this, they would leave a little note with the letters SHMILY on it. She never knew what the letters meant until her grandma’s funeral. The letters were on a ribbon on the bouquet from her grandpa. She finally asked him what it meant.  He told her See How Much I Love You. After, I read this story to DH (then BF), I started finding these notes from him. He would surprise me with my favorite chocolate and a note. He would fill up my tank and put the note on the back of receipt. I started leaving him notes too. The idea is if you receive a SHMILY, you have to return it before the other person can give you another. There is no time limit when the SHMILY has to be returned. When I asked DH to marry me, it was my turn to return it to him.

We are Star Wars geeks! We wanted to engrave the exchange between Han and Leia in Empire Strikes Back on our wedding bands. There was no room on mine, so DH has a heart “You” for Leia’s “I Love You” and Han’s reply “I Know”.

My initials. And I’d want his in mine.

I don’t really care to add anything else.

A Bee once said that her grandfather had her grandmother’s maiden name engraved in his wedding band and I thought that was just the sweetest thing. If I were changing my name, I’d love for Fiance to do that.

MrsBuesleBee:  This may sound rednecky, so I apologize. I’m thinking about getting “Gander” engraved in FI’s band. He’s a big hunter, and geese mate for life. “Gander” is the male goose. Yes, it sounds kind of stupid.

We are simply getting “Love” engraved on both of ours.
