Out of 109 events reported in the first 120 responses (some people reported a destination wedding and also a home reception, for example), here is the breakdown:
Average guestcount: 139
Average cost: $26,433
Average cost per guest: $233
(This is not the avg cost/avg guestcount, but rather the average of all (specific costs/specific guestcounts))
Median guestcount: 130
Median cost: $20k
Median cost per guest: $170
Modes, if anyone is interested, are 150 guests and 15k, though of course not necessarily for the same events.
I’ve noted in my spreadsheet who included what in their total costs, but I haven’t figured out how to more accurately reflect that in the outcomes.
Also, don’t forget that these are statistics for WB readers, and it’s not surprising that brides interested in DIY will skew below the national average for cost. 🙂
Better late than never!
without rings, rehearsal dinner or honeymoon:
1) 125 guests
2) NYC
3) $65,000
i thought this was an old link, so i’m late addign by data.
1. Hoping for about 130 guest. Inviting over 200
2. South Carolina
3. Its looking like we’ll come in at ~$7,000. That includes rings. If we are able to go on a honeymoon, then it will come in at about $1000 more. the hm is being played by ear. we’ve got info for it, but won’t book it until last minute (condo at the beach) to make sure we’ve got money for everything. if we dont get to have one….well…i guess we’ll be moving for our honeymoon.
And you know, I hadn’t actually included my own info. 🙂
1. 110-ish
2. Philadelphia, PA
3. $18-20k, not including rings, honeymoon, or rehearsal dinner
Other fun facts:
We’ve reported over 15,000 total guests partying at our events!
We have spent or are planning to spend just under 3 million dollars, between 112 of us. Yikes!
1. 35-40
2. Pittsburgh, PA
3. Budget is $5000, (but it looks like we’ll be $1000 under budget).
-Budget includes everything but the engagement ring and the honeymoon
1. 125ish
2. Ames, IA
3. Around 7,000…includes everything
The venue was free! (thank you Iowa State University) 🙂
Omg. The first post is quite an expensive wedding!
We had:
1. 186
2. Chicagoland area
3. Around 33,000 which includes wedding bands and honeymoon.
Our honeymoon is $6,000 and we spent $10,000 on the rings. Dinner plates were $55/each.
1) Invited 130, ended up with about 90
2) Bucks County PA (Philly suburbs)
3) about 28k (including wedding bands but not rehearsal dinner or honeymoon)
1. 100 max
2. Louisville, KY
3. Hoping for under 10K which includes everything but my engagement ring.
1) 50-60 guests
2) Golden, Colorado (just outside of Denver)
3) Budgeted $6000, and so far we seem to be on track!
We’re doing a lot of DIY.
1)About 90 guests including approx. 20 kids
2)Monterey, CA
3)30,000-35,000 – Original budget was 15K , but , we had a long engagement (18 mos) which meant lots more time to find little things here and there and we were able to spread payments out to be able to afford a bit more.
