most if not all of the maps i’ve rec’d with invites gave directions from the closest freeway exit and work outwards; then different directions from church or ceremony site to the reception venue a little "snapshot" of the area would be great also.

so in my case, we are going to be in marina del rey, calif, so the map would offer "from 405 N take blah blah blah; from 405 S take blah ablah exit etc…  my snapshot will encompass the 405 and highlight exit to ceremony and church to reception

i’m assuming your website (if you have one) and the directions insert will also have the detailed address of both locations – that way your guests can mapquest or yahoo map it out for themselves too??

good luck!

Directions from common areas to the ceremony site (i.e. from the north, from the west, from the hotel, etc.)

And directions from the ceremony to the reception site.

Also a tip — be sure to test your directions! Don’t just google it and print it out. I’ve had sooo many Google and Mapquest directions be totally wrong or really confusing, so make sure yours are easy to follow, maybe even add landmarks (i.e. turn right at the McDonald’s on Second Ave) so guests can easily find their way.

I have directions from the largest freeway that intersects with my Church, and the church to the reception.

I have not included a map, but at the bottom of the direction card noted that for more information, maps and so on they can visit our wedding web site.

I’m all for Mogans tip on the google/mapquest thing – they QALWAYS give the most complicated  directions! So be wary of that.
