I did photo sharing cards in photoshop today and we worked figuring out how large to make our wish cards for the guestbook. Not very DIY heavy at the moment – and quite liking it!

The cake! I’m thinking about baking one two-tier and a bunch of other simple layer cakes instead of having an expensive bakery cake, so I’m do lots of research and trials. I just bought dowels and a cake leveler, and I plan to make my first trial next week! I’m just trying not to get too carried away with different flavor combinations… don’t want to stress myself out too much before the wedding!

Oooh lily don’t forget cake boards to go with the dowels… lol my sis recently tried the same thing, but we think the cake wasn’t quite the type for tiers, because it.. um… sunk in on itself! oh well. Good luck!

It’s not wedding-related, but it is DIY! I’m salvaging two picture frames by removing the old school bird paintings inside, painting the gold frames a glossy black, and pasting pressed flowers onto cardstock to go inside. It’s amazing what a little paint can do!

@ Labor of Love – thanks! I’m guessing it was the actual cake recipe she used, too. I know my go-to layer cake recipe is just too dense and crumbly for a tiered cake, so I’m using a different one. You might want to pass that along. I have a couple of great recipes. πŸ™‚
