I didn’t want to threadjack the other negligent owner thread, so:
My neighbors have three puppies that are allowed to run loose all day. The owners have no fenced in yard, really no yard to speak of whatsoever. They are sweet dogs, but mischevious. They dig holes, steal things, and harrass anyone who is out walking. All they really want is some attention. In the last two days they have broken through my screen door twice and let my dog out. The cat also hangs out on my screened in porch during the day so I’m afraid that she’s going to get out too. In the year and a half we have lived in this house, we have never had a problem with our animals doing this. We apprised the owner of the situation last night when it happened the first time, but this afternoon it happened again. Animal control and the police have now been involved.
If the involvement of the authorities does not solve this problem then I’m afraid that the next step is going to be that I will have to take them to the pound myself. They are putting themselves and my dogs in danger. I don’t want to see them put down, so I will have animal control contact me in the case that the owners do not claim them. I have a friend with lots of land out in the country that offered to take them when we thought that they were strays or had been dumped.
Has anyone ever had this problem? What did you do? If not, what would you do in my situation?
