From what I can tell, your hair looks EXACTLY like mine.  Super long and straight.. I have trouble holding curl too. In the past, I’ve had them do a half-up/half-down up do where they kind of pin some of the curls in a more cascading way (hiding the pins of course so you can’t tell that the curl is actually pinned).  Also, they need to use a lot of product to help hold the curl (both before it’s actually curled and after it’s curled, and they even spray it as they’re curling it).  Did you have super-clean hair when you went?  For me, slightly dirty hair works best (don’t wash the day of).  I want to wear my hair down too, but from past experiences I know that the curl will just fall right out it it’s not pinned up at all in any way.  I also find that a narrower barrel curling iron helps hold the curl better than larger curling irons.  Not sure if any of this helps…

Really have to use LOTS of hold for us straight haired people to hold a curl….I am doing my hair down with soft curls too and it held but the girl did REALLY use alot of extra hold to pull it off. It is possible, just have to make sure the hair stylist knows what she is doing 100 percent. My trial was $200 as well…and yeah, I did feel it was a bit steep. I actually went with a different person for hair and make up because I liked the way they did my hair and they happened to be cheaper!
