I know this sounds super silly so dont hate..but I really dont know what to say >.> I had a prescription for 12 months worth of BC pills and im on my last one. I know that you have to get a papsmear done in order to get a new prescription…so what exactly do i do?? Do I call the appointment hotline and say I need a papsmear? Or that I need a new BC prescription?? Im pretty embarressed that I dont know what to do or say…. ughhhh!!! Also my doctor is a man and im kinda nervous with a guy *down there* will everything still be ok? O.O
I dislike seeing the doctor as you can probably guess lol.

You can just say you need a “well woman” exam. They’ll know what you mean 🙂 And I have had both men and women as Gynos. I found the men to be gentler!

I just called and said I needed my annual exam. But if you are seeing a general practitioner, I think it would be a Well Woman exam, just to be more specific? At least that’s what they are called here!

You may not need a pap every year, depending on your age and history. Just tell them that you need to renew your BC scrip and they should take it from there.

I would just call and say “Hi, I need to make an appointment for a pelvic exam.” Don’t sweat it! They’ll know what you mean! ; )

I always would call And say say i needed a refill on my birth control. I would run out sooner than the 12 months because i would sometimes skip the sugar pills to skip my period. No biggie!

“I need to make an appointment for my annual exam.”
Oh and male doctors are more gentle, in my experience.

I always say I need to make an appt for my annual exam. My main gyno is a woman, but I have seen men before, and they tend to be gentler.

Yep, make an appointment for your annual exam. They’ll do all of the necessary tests and you can ask for a prescription refill. At my GYN’s office, an exam is required to get a refill of BC.
My GYN is a woman and she’s great. I’ve never had a male GYN, though my current primary care physician is male.

@MrsTee: I would call and say I’d need to make an appointment in order to renew my prescription for -bc pill name-.” They’ll figure it out! 🙂

They’ll know what you need to do. You can say you need your well woman exam, your annual exam, an appointment because you’re bc is running, low…anything to that effect. They’ll know what you mean.

I just call and tell them I need to make an appointment for my annual exam. I like saying that up front because just saying I need to refill my BC pills could cause an awkward pause, followed by, “Um, you need an exam before we can do that.”

I think it would be a Well Woman exam, No biggie!

Just say you need a birth control refill. women are only required to get an exam every 2-3 years now depending on your health and previous paps. They, legally, can not require an exam to refill birth control perscriptions.

I always call and say I need my yearly physical to refill my BC Rx. No big deal and certainly nothing to be embarrassed about.
