Do you think it would be alright to call the bridal shop I purchised my dress at to see if just maybe my dress is in??? I ordered it back in January on a Saturday and they said they would order it on the next monday. I’m having a little anxiety that they didnt order it then or they forgot or something. When I said I wanted the dress the sales clerk told me it was a popular choice and that she didnt even need to look at the dress’ tag to know the ordering number because she had it memorized. So she just left my dress back in the dressing room, didnt even look at the tag and wrote down the ordering number up at the front desk. That scared me a little too. And we are already cutting it close to the wedding. The dress’ due date to come in is April15 and my wedding is May 15. And I know for sure that there will be alterations. So if I did call the shop what would I even say??????

I would simply call them and tell them that you purchased a dress to order on (such and such date). Tell them that you did not see them place the order, and you just wanted to make sure they had in fact placed it. They won’t get offended. And it’ll help you feel better and not so anxious. I would also explain that your attendant did not look at the dress tag before she placed the order, and you want to make sure that they ordered the correct dress. Those are both reasonable reasons to request they check, and anyone in retail understands that.

Just say that you would like to confirm the details of your dress order…as you are with other vendors:-) Don’t worry, I’m sure they are very accustomed to dealing with Brides and understand the anxiety!

I agree with MightySapphire. That would make me SO nervous! Definitely call and ask, that’s totally reasonable. If you feel like you need an “excuse” then maybe ask for them to confirm the colour so you can pick lace for your veil or something. But I would really tell them that you didn’t see the sales order get written up so you wanted to double check that everything had been processed correctly.

Definitely call. I had an issue with my bridesmaids dresses where I called a few weeks later to confirm and they actually had not been ordered! Ease your mind and give them a call!

“hi. i’m just calling to check the status of my dress order.”
then just take it from there. if you’re worried about it not being in, and whomever you’re talking to seems non-chalant about the whole thing, make sure to express your concerns: “i just really want to make sure that my dress will be in on time.”
hopefully all goes well – let us know how it turns out. 🙂

Yeah, you don’t even have to explain yourself. Just say you are calling to check on the status. I am a fellow bride who has flipped out over the thougth that my dress was not ordered – it was also the salon’s fault making me believe they had not placed the order, but in reality it HAD been ordered, they just weren’t communicating it properly.

AHHHH!!! So I just called the store and YES they did order it. Its still looking like April 15 though, but the worst thing was she said that my dress is coming from Texas…Im in MICHIGAN! She said that it will take an additional 4-5 days to get here after april 15! We ordered the dress a little big and I’m adding straps. So alterations NEED to be done……IM FREAKING OUT!!!!!!!!!!
