I am pretty new here and I am also pretty clueless. I have bought a wedding dress, but I have not bought anything to wear under it. I know I obviously knickers of some sort, but do I need a slip? I tried it on with one, but I was not sure if that was just because I tried *all* of them on with one. I am going to see if I can get away without wearing a bra, because anything with a regular strap shows and my dress laces up in the back (without an inset) so any bras that go lower you can see too… I might try those sticky cup things, if I feel I need something. I guess I am just confused about a slip and that, do all brides wear them, or only with certain dresses, or is it personal preference? I am not wearing any hosiery, since I absolutely detest it (and I want open toed shoes). Help?

I’m wearing a crinoline and underwear…that’s it. My dress has a lot of boning and cups already in the bodice, and it’s lace-up back, so I don’t need a bra. I might end up wearing Spanx to suck in my belly depending on how many Doritos I eat between now and then. you can also have your seamstress sew in cups when you have fittings, if that makes you feel better about not wearing a bra.

i am planning to just wear undies. I shouldn’t need a bra based on my dress (although depending on your dress maybe a long line bra? I’m also not planning on spanx because my dress has lots of boning on its own to suck me in and i want to make peeing as easy as possible! lol

I am only wearing underwear – no bra, corset, slip, spanx or anything like that! My dress has cups in it and is very fitted in the torso so Im not concerned. I am wearing blue undies as my something blue and Im glad I wont be wearing anything more because it will be so damn hot!

My dress needs a slip (and underwear and a bra). Its see-through in sunlight. I think you need to see how it fits without and whether it is see-through (check in sunlight) etc and go from there.

I am wearing undies (blue), a long-line bra, and an A-line crinoline. It really depends on the silohuette of your dress. You can have cups sewn into the bodice so you don’t need a bra. If the skirt is fuller, it might need a crinoline.

I am only wearing a push-up backless bra from Victoria’s Secret and underwear.

@royalmuskoka: just an FYI: I was trying on a crinoline on the other day (they never gave me one to try on when I got my dress) and the consultant suggested that even if I don’t go with a crinoline to at least wear a regular slip to just below my knees. She said that while trying on the dress and just walking in the store you can’t really tell, but without it the dress will bunch between your legs.

I am wearing undies and a long line bra. I highly reccomend a long line. Mine is comfy, sucks me in and forces good posture!

Oh goody, lots of responses really quick, thanks girls! I am sticking with the crinoline that is already on my dress and not adding any extra (’tis already poofy enough, ha) and I know that the dress is for sure not see-through (too many layers). The bodice is very fitted with boning and it laces as tight as I can get it on the day, so I think I will need to try it on sans bra (I had a strapless one on the day I tried it on). I like the sounds of a backless bra, I shall check out Victoria Secret’s website to get an idea of them, I will also ask the seamstress about adding cups to the bodice, if I feel uncomfortable sans bra (I was previously quite ample, but sadly my boobs were one of the first things to go when I lost some weight recently).

@SandDollar: Oh, that is good advice! Maybe when I get my dress, I will try walking around in it properly to see if I want at least a short slip for that reaon!
@jaylii9: I have looked at a few long-line bras before, but I think they will show up where the lacing is on my dress, unfortunately. I think maybe for the bra, I should wait until I have my dress and then mark the highest possible line for a bra on my back. 🙂

Oh and there will be no spanks of any sort happening on this body ever! I do not care if I gain a billion pounds before the wedding, I aint having no spandex on my body when I get married… gawd, it is so uncomfortable (and my dress will be right tight anyway). 😀

The specifics of what you get depends a lot on your dress – can we see a picture?

I’m wearing nude undies…they are like the shaping kind and go all the way over my tummy! lol, but I don’t want to look bulgy!

Okay, here is my first go at uploading pictures, so if it doesn’t work or they are way too big, please forgive me! I have not showed anyone the dress yet (other than my ma, pa, and a few close friends).
