I forgot one!! And I pretty much second every single one on this thread.

I despise the phrase, “git ‘er done.” I am not sure why anyone would say that, ever. It doesn’t even really make sense!!

I’ve actually heard it argued that “I am well” isn’t the correct response to the question, “how are you?”.

Well is an adverb, modifying am…. so, I am well is saying that you are doing a good job of being.

Good is an adjective, describing you.  So, I am good may actually be more correct.

For me, this is along the same line as over use of I. For example,

“Who does this belong to?”

“My SO and I”

Actually, it’s “my SO and me”.  If only you owned something you would answer, “me”, not “I”

These both strike me as the worst kind of grammar snobbery, the incorrect kind.

This isn’t a specific thing but there is this one friend on FB who recently got engaged and won’t post about anything else now but the wedding. She manages to work it into EVERY status!! “Painting the house… it’s so easy picking a color scheme (and a wedding scheme!) with someone who has the same tastes!” OMGGGGG we get you’re getting married, shut up!

Instead of a specific phrase that annoys me, what drives me CRAZY under any circumstance is when I know that people are talking about me within earshot and they are trying to keep their voices hushed so that I cannot hear them. They don’t even have to be saying anything particularly mean. I promise I’m not a paranoid person in general, this just for whatever reason drives me insane.

I just felt the urge to post this after hearing my roommate and her boyfriend whispering in the kitchen about how much to charge me for the cleaning supplies he bought. Either say it in front of me to my face or go somewhere else to talk about me where I cannot hear you. UGH!

Haha…I realize how silly this probably sounds 🙂

haha i have a bunch, and i’m going to agree with a bunch of people.

here are the worst:

-“kwim?” (this sounds REALLY dirty to me, and also usually follows something offensive or annoying)

-“just sayin”

-“preggo” and “preggers”

-“love on” (really annoying, and again, sounds sexual)

-“bffer” and “besty” both

-when people use “I” instead of “me” or “my” (ex: This is my SO and I’s favorite spot) AHHH!

I have a couple crazy-makers.

1) When people ask for “imput”

2) I have friend who refers to it as devit, rather than debit

3) I work in police station and have a coworker who thinks the past tense of steal is “stoled”.  Makes me cringe every time, and that word comes up a LOT!

@AnnieAAA: Ha ha it’s good that this post is turning into things people are guilty of.  My boss says cheers to me all the time and I think it’s so unprofessional :(.  In a bar – good.  In an office – bad.  Lots of people use it now though.  Irk!

Scottish people are also guilty of say “Quality Man” for anything that’s deemed….well….quaility.  That and say Sweeeet in a long drawn out tone.  Arghhh.

Thought of two more..

“Nerve wrecking” … It’s “wracking”

The second is a NJ/Phila thing I think, but people there LOVE to say “Yous guys” when addressing a group of people. A waitress comes to your table as says “What can I get yous guys??” Argh!! Stop!
