I don’t really like most ‘traditional boutonnieres with giant flowers and leaves and stems and ribbon. Since we’re having a more casual diyish wedding I thought these might work.
Thinking of getting these in a slightly brighter red in more matte fabric. What do you think? They’re about 2 1/2 in. wide.
I saw some UK stars wearing red poppies on Remembrance Day and thought it looked awesome and made me think of doing something like this.

I like the idea… but I think I’d like them better if the circles were more even. I love the button in the middle and the fabric flower, but the photo you posted just looks a little lopsided.

Personally I think they do look feminine. Not all bouts have to be made up of giant flowers, ours will be made out of peacock feathers. You can google non-traditional bouts to get more ideas

I like them, i think they are cute and different

@bells: What is it that you think makes them feminine? Or what could be changed to make them less so? I’m getting them in a less shiny fabric and a brighter (less maroon) red.
This is kinda what I’m having a hard time understanding. And I can’t fix what I don’t really get. I think something like this is really feminine
and yet that’s the “traditional” way. I don’t know how a stem makes it masculine but jewels and sparkles don’t make it too feminine.
I’m not putting down anyone who has one like that, just saying I don’t want my guys to feel weird wearing them, but I don’t know how to make them less girly without it being more traditional (which too me looks more girly). Lol, I’m very confused!

I said its feminine because imo it looks like something that women would wear on a regular basis. I could attach that to a ribbon and wear it as a head band or as a belt round my waist.
But dont let that bother you. I was just stating my honest opinion

I like the idea, but I think they could use a bit more dimension.
I’ve seen ones with curly twigs, feathers in earth tones, folded paper…I’d keep looking at different options, but that’s just me.
Fiance and I knew we weren’t crazy about the idea of floral bouts for the guys, and our florist was totally on board with this. The groomsmen’s bouts will be eucalyptus and rosemary. Very earthy and natural, and they’ll smell phenomenal.

Hi Kala way – I think a DIY bout is a great idea. What you thought of kind of looks like a flower for your shoe or something like that. What about adding a petal to it or maybe something like the pic below? It looks like buttons wrapped in fabric with a fabric petal? Just google DIY bout’s for more ideas.
@lovebird – those are awesome!!

I actually really like them! I googled the whole UK Remembrance Day thing to find your inspiration pics. Looks like it could be a great pop of color, and definitely a non-traditional bout. Good luck!

It looks… sloppy. Still feminine, but also sloppy. Melisslp’s picture looks fine…
has some good ideas…
You can google masculine bouts.
