We use command strips for everything and have never had any problems with them ruining the walls.  For heavy things like picture frames we use the velcro kind and they hold up great.

I have used Command Strips for decorating many events and have never had so much as a visible mark left on the walls. Follow the instructions. Wait the required time after application before you try to use it.

I love the 3M Command products with the pull tabs! Just make sure that when you pull them, you pull them as parallel to the wall as you can. When I first used them in my college dorm, I made the mistake of pulling at too great of an angle, and that tore off some of the dry wall :-(. However, that was due to user error. They work really well when you use them how they say to! πŸ™‚

We have no qualms about putting holes in the walls here (they consider it normal wear and tear), but we also use the Command hooks and strips for a lot of stuff. Follow the directions on the package and you’ll be golden!

My building actually handed us some of the strips when we moved in.  I had to go out and buy even more, we’ve hung a few things with them.

I don’t know the brand name, but PPs mentioned them; the sticky strips with the foam tab that you pull to release it from the wall. Never had a problem with them wrecking the paint. : )
