We have the restaraunt to ourselves (free of charge) from 11 to 4. Anything before 11 the doors are locked, anything after 4 and my parents start getting charged out the wazoo.
I want to start at 12 (11 or 11:30 is just sooo early it seems)…but then what if people are late? Should I put 11:45 on the invite so I can walk down the aisle at 12? *I* plan to arrive with my girls around 11:30 just so I have time to make sure the centerpieces have been set up properly and make sure I didn’t forget anything. We are having a short ceremony, 30 mins tops. So..
12-12:30- Ceremony (vows, exchanging of rings, reading, unity candle)12:40-1:20- Cocktail “Hour” (2 hand passed appetizers and open bar with suggested drinks)1:30-3:00- Dinner/Mingling/Starting to go to dance floorLittle after 3:00 we’ll have a friend of family announce us and do our first dance then formally invite people to come dance if the’d like3:45- New hubby and I leave on our carriage ride and allow 15 minutes for everyone to get the hint and clear out
Does that sound appropriate? Should I allow more time or word anything a certain way? Do we really need food at the 40 min cocktail hour if we’re doing food right after? How do I make it quite clear we gotta scram by 4? Should we leave sooner? Should we announce our exit and remind everyone the restaraunt needs us out at 4 (but not mention the money thing)? I think we’ll be o.k on time if the ceremony goes over because I didn’t want dancing to be a huge part of the event.
