We are lucky to have some extra space in our house right now, and I have no idea what to do with it. I know once we have a baby or 2 (in a few years) we will be bursting out of our small house, but right now I am at a loss with what we should do with our 3rd and smallest bedroom.
We are currently using it as our office, but we are re-finishing a small room down stairs which will be the office. Right now the master bedroom is upstairs, the guest room down stairs, and the 3rd bedroom is across the hall from the master. In the future, it will be our nursey but right now I have no idea what to do with it. We talked about making it a 2nd guest room but we very rarely have 2 couples staying with us at the same time (it happened twice in the last year), so I dont want to invest in a bed and matress that I will have to store when future baby comes. I thought about making it a sitting room with a daybed (for those overnight twice a year guests), but theyre so expensive!

We have a craft room in a spare bedroom now. Since my husband gets the garage, that’s my little space.

Daybeds aren’t that much really. I’d turn it into a dressing room for myself for now 🙂

We have four bedrooms, we use them as:
-sewing room (also where I house all my random craft/photography stuff… This room just has a large table with chair, couch, and some shelving units)

Ooo a craft room sounds fun, I wish I was crafty!! 🙂
The daybeds that I looked at online and in the store started around $300+, but that doesnt include the twin size mattress. Do you know of a place that sells them cheaper?

We turned our extra bedroom into a small gym. We put a spinning bike and weights in it. You’d be amazed at how much easier it is to talk yourself into working out when you just have to walk across the hall.

Close off the air vent and save some money on heating/cooling. Actually, I’m not sure this would even do anything, but I would convince myself it would. 🙂
If I had extra room, I would set up a nice area for folding and air-drying laundry. And ironing. I currently do this on my guest bed, and air dry on a rack in my dining room. I’d kill for a laundry room!

@CanAmBride: That’s what I was going to suggest.
If I had the space, I’d get an elliptical in a heartbeat and set up an in-home gym.

You don’t really need to buy a day bed. If you purchased just a regular twin and frame and then bought tons of pillows and big roll pillows for the arms you could make a faux daybed. Perhaps you can take up sewing and make them yourself 🙂

I would either do a dressing room or a small gym.

We have 3 bedrooms. We use them as
-gaming room/guest room…has a futon, second TV and is where Darling Husband plays video games

We have 3 spare bedrooms. One will soon turn into a guest room using his old furniture when we get our new set. The other two…. will remain empty until needed. I have no desire to spend money into turning it into anything just to use the space, and then end up repurposing it again later for children. I have no problems with leaving it empty and closed off.

We have two extra rooms. One is an office/game room, and the other one is my library 🙂 I love it!
