I wish more weddings were like this. I’m tired of eating dinner in barns and hotel ballrooms.

I would pay careful attention to any laws or pool policies regarding alcohol, as well as requirements about who is allowed to “bartend.” Also whether or not there are any rules about lifeguarding at that facility. This will be a decently large crowd for a pool party; will there be any precautions for pool safety? It sounds silly but if people are drinking and playing in the pool, there is some risk.

Other than that, your idea sounds AWESOME! I think it’ll be a blast.

I love the idea, but what about a photographer? Not everyone is comfortable being photographed in a bathing suit.

Also, this event is extremely dependend on good weather. Be carefult when picking the date.

I’d be certain to get single event liability coverage. Alcohol and partying are a risk at all weddings, but mixing in a pool sounds like a risk I personally wouldn’t take.

This honestly sounds like THE MOST FUN wedding ever. Can you make sure there’s enough physical space away from the pool so that people who don’t want to swim can hang out? I hate being splashed if I’m not planning to swim. But I would be so torn between being fancy and jumping right in that pool!

If you have a lot of guests who are children, I think this is a genius idea because then the kids will have SO MUCH FUN instead of nagging their parents to go home. Maybe designate one person, or hire a babysitter, to watch the pool area sort of like a lifeguard, so parents can leave their kids and go dance? I’m sure there will be lots of adults in the pool with beers and such too, but if you let parents know that a designated babysitter or two will be chillin in the pool and not drinking, just there to make sure kids are being safe, then they’ll feel better about relaxing and not being on high alert.

Either way, this wedding sounds like the best wedding of all time and I 100% think you should do it.

Sounds like a really fun casual laid-back wedding! I would love to go! Why is this any different than like a park bbq picnic? I say go for it!

This sounds really fun. You’ve already addressed the seating and life-guarding concerns so that’s dealt with, presumably you have/will check liquor laws. The only other issue is weather but if you have a pretty reliable summer you’ll probably be fine. Maybe you could tell people that they can bring casual clothes and get changed at the pool if they want to.

I personally would absolutely hate it because I love weddings as a chance to dress up nice, take photos, catch up with people, experience a fun dancy atmosphere etc.. and I would feel very uncomfortable swimming with 60-70 other people, especially if I sort of knew them. But you know your guests and yourself, if you love it and think your guests will, why not.

A friend of mine was in a wedding like this, where the ceremony also took place at the pool. The bridesmaids wore bathing suits. The bride and groom dove into the pool after being pronounced husband and wife, and then the party started. Yours sounds a bit more chill (my friend wasn’t thrilled about standing up in front of a crowd in her bathing suit) and super fun. Love the food truck idea!
