Miss B

I’m doing flowers right now as well!  I’m no expert, but I think you need to tell your florist about your vision and your budget and let him/her go from there.  Be sure you have everyone who’ll need a bout/corsage on your list.  And if you haven’t chosen a baker yet and want cake flowers, ask your florist to price out cake flowers as well.  (Our baker will arrange flowers on the cake, but she won’t provide them; our florist has to provide the flowers, so I needed the cake dimensions, etc. before going to the florist).

Basically, I would ask for a detailed, itemized quote so you really know what you’re getting into.  And be sure to ask about change/addition/deletion deadlines.

I’m excited to see what others have to say in response to your post as well.  I hope I covered everything in my consultations.  🙂

Good luck!

I’m doing flowers right now and MAN are they expensive!! Maybe it’s the florists, maybe it’s my ideas, maybe both. All I know is that I nearly threw up when I saw the first quote. Anyway.

Miss Fondue provided really great vendor worksheets for various vendors, including florists. Here is the original post which does not include the one for florists. That one is in the comments (comment #5). To be honest, though, I didn’t really get a chance to ask many questions. Most were answered during the appointment.

I have a pretty clear idea of what I want, so I created a Power Point with pictures to show the florists. In it I included ideas for my bouquet, the Bridesmaid or Best Man bouquets, and centerpieces. Also I included pictures of my ceremony and reception sites along with my wedding dress and Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses. I didn’t include Groomsmen bouts, mother/grandmother flowers, flower girls, cake flowers, and other various reception decor, but those are other things you could include. After putting it all together I printed out the slides and had a great little inspiration packet! If you’d like me to send it to you fell free to PM me with your email address and I’ll send it on over. Hope that helps!!
