I got my mom basically an at home day with me (since I don’t live with her). I’m bringing over 2 horror movies for us to watch (her to keep), some brownies to bake (I bake she’s bad at it but loves brownies), a plush throw blanket, a wendy’s gift card (she loves wendys), a sequin pillow (the kind you can play with), a card, a couple face masks, and a bunch of snacks and drinks for us. This is a combo mothers day/birthday gift since her birthday always falls on or a few days before mothers day.

Normally we take our moms out for lunch and we usually get them flowers or a plant both of our moms are avid gardeners

My mom has so much stuff! I usually do an activity rather than a physical object. This year I am planning to take her to get pedicures at a spa and a nice lunch. My parents have a lake house so sometimes we will do a weekend girls trip there.

My mom is a widowed senior that struggles with lonlinesss so I always get her an “experience” rather than a material item (plus she has everything she wants & is super picky).  We usually have both our moms over for dinner for mother’s day but Mother-In-Law will be out of town this year.  I am going to look for an event like a comedian or play or something that I think my mom would enjoy.

I did give her a “thing” for Christmas that she liked, it was a photo album of our last two trips together (we take trip every year) and she did really like that.

Souzie :  Is there ever a post that you don’t have to name/label drop on? We get it, you have money.

SweetBeets :  every year for as long as we’ve had the ability to travel on our own we make up a hanging basket for mom’s front porch. Now that I live far away I just send my sister money for it and give mom a call. We aren’t a big gift family and mom wouldn’t appreciate jewelry or anything like that. She loves her flower basket. Sister is upgrading it this year from the old basket, but that’s all!

funnily enough my husband is mildly freaking out about our first  mother’s day this year since I just had a birthday. I already told him to just buy a plant and label it from our son. I hope he listens.

My mum is one of those ladies who has everything she could ever want (at least everything that is in my price range!). So my sister and I have started doing experience gifts this year. She got a rock climbing experience for her birthday and lunch at her favorite restaurant for Mother’s Day. She loved both!

It differs every year. Last year she was moving into a new place so I got her some cute wine glasses that say, “I’m not slurring, I am talking in cursive” because my sisters and I tease her about slurring when she’s tipsy. In the past, I’ve gotten a Kindle, flowers, manicures/pedicures, the Kardashians book (she loves them lol), and this year I am getting her a 24K Gold Anti-Aging face mask to pamper herself.

SweetBeets :  I’m giving mom a few rare wheat pennies that I have been holding on to waiting for the perfect time to give them. and a about 50 bucks worth of better coin collection equiptment. (My mom has the love of coin collecting. Im so excited the three wheat pennies i bought are going to complete her collection. Its collection she started with my late grandpa. Mother’s day this year coincides with his birthday. Im just sad I wont be ablle to see her open the package. one of the sad parts of living 3,000 miles away from home. )

And for me I asked my boo for a spa trip or something to help relax. 🙂

I live across the country, so I typically send her a gift.  I have sent her customized mugs, picture frames, jewelry, chocolates, gift cards for hair or spa, etc.  This year I plan to send her a really nice bouquet of flowers- like a big, expensive bouquet that she would probably never receive otherwise.  DH recently sent me really nice flowers at work and my mom was gushing over the photos, so I think she would really enjoy them.
