My mom is a very obsessed Nana now, so I got her a Nixplay frame. It’s a digital picture frame, but it connects to the cloud, so you can email photos to a specified account and they automatically upload to the frame. She prints photos of her grandson like every day for her office, so I thought this might be a nicer option 🙂

My mom never knows what she wants and in truth, she’s got a house too full of stuff already. :/

She usually just wants me to take pictures and send them to her, she likes that the best. I tend to ‘save up’ on the gifts she’s owned, and then every once in a while fry her in to visit (we live far away) or I’ve been known to send my brother something to take her out for a special evening when she is visiting him.

I like the necklace ideas for your step mom, particularly if that’s what she’s asking for.

annabeth929 :  People come from all walks of life and budgets on this site.  OP asked a question and I answered it…no need for the snark.

I always buy my mom potted plants or hand thrown pottery, usually mugs. She is a dedicated coffe drinker. Last year I combined the two and got her a beautiful hand thrown pot with a hibiscus.

For my own office jewelry or statement necklaces, I always buy them at ModCloth. They run some great sales on jewelry. Their pieces probably won’t match the quality of the Nordstrom necklace, so it really depends on her style.

SweetBeets :  I used to buy her flowers, card, and a small gift, or take her out but we had a huge falling out 10 months ago and haven’t spoken since, in fact Im cutting her off permanemtly most likely because I cant keep doing this, our relationship is fucked up. This Mother’s day will be particularly hard because it’s the first mother’s day since she is CO, it will also be my bday..  and Im starting a new job the next day, and my period is due early that week so I will be in full on PMS mode that weekend. Not looking forward to it.

A card. And yes that may sound bad, but she legit doesn’t want us buying her anything. She will let us at Christmas but that’s it. Btw I’m also a mom, daughter is 16, and I assume I’ll get nothing as usual.

I really wanted to get my and my husband’s family together for Mother’s Day this year, and the most convenient day for us was this Saturday, so we’re hosting a Cinco de Mother’s Day celebration at our house to celebrate our moms and my older sister. We’re spending a good amount on food, but I still want to get them each something. So far I’m thinking a nice box of chocolates to go with their cards.

Anything she wants she can buy for herself, so for the last few years I’ve taken my mom on a mini-get away, usually 2-3 nights somewhere driving distance. We both look forward to it all year.

I typically, take my mom for brunch, gift her a gift certificate for a pedicure (because she loves them). I also will typically come out the weekend after mother’s day and gift her my Saturday getting her yard ready for spring/summer. So will de-dog poop her yard. Rake, power wash her deck and the yard furniture. Set everything up for her, so she can just come and relax and enjoy it all.
