my grandparents were always ‘grandma and grandpa’ and my parents will be the same….they’re referred to that now to our dogs.

My side – Nana & Papa and Nono & Nona

My parents want to be called Nona & Nono (italian)

His side – he called both sides grandma and grandpa.

I’m assuiming his parents will just be grandma and grandpa as well.

My siblings and I called our grandparents who lived in our city just Grandma and Grandpa. We called our paternal grandparents who lived on the other side of the country Grandma LastName and Grandpa LastName. Per their request, my nieces call my in-laws Mimi and Pops. I’m not thrilled with Mimi because it sounds too much like mommy to me.

@quierajen:  ME TOO! Mormor and Grandad! Sigh… I miss my Grandad

My mom hasmn’t decided what she wants to be called. Seems like it would be weird to call her Mormor but that’s technically what she would be to our kids. I imagine my dad will be called grandpa.

Dh’s parents are already grandparents and go by grandma and papa

My moms parents were Grandma (Name) and Grandpa (Name) My Dad’s parents were Nona and Grandpa (Name) he passed when my dad was a teenager so I do not know if he would have been Nono if alive. My FIL’s are Grandma and Poppie to the curent grandkids and will stay the same when I have some. My mom can pick what she is called and my dad is no longer in our lives so he won’t get a name.

@quierajen:  omg! Someone else who has a Mormor! My mother’s father was called Morfar. (Deceased now)

My dad’s parents were Grandma Jean and Grandpa Lowell. (Decrease now)

My mom is Grandma. She said there is only one Mormor, her mother, so she went with traditional American Grandma. For awhile DD called her Grandmother, but that was the kid’s idea.

DH’s father is Grandad. His wife (they married only a year ago) is Grandma Nancy. I think her grandchildren from her pervious husband call her Mamaw but that makes my husband cringe.

My mom’s grandparents were Nana and Bompa, mine are/were Gramma and Poppa, and my other grandma was Babcia (Polish for Grandma). To my niece, my Mom and Stepdad are “skating grandma and grandpa” I don’t know what our kids will call them. I bet my Mom would love to be called Nana.

My paternal grandparents are Opa and Gram, and my parents will be Opa and Halmoni (Korean for grandma). πŸ™‚  For the in-laws, I believe she will be Nana, but not quite sure on the grandpa.  Love how loads use Opa! <3
