My grandparents are/were Grams & Granddaddy.

My parents are Gama & Goomba (Stepmom/Dad), and Grandma Katie (Mom). We don’t really have a relationship with my dad and stepmom, so they’ll likely be Grandpa Jon and Grandma Connie to our kids.

My IL’s are Nana/Pop-pop to our nephews, and will be to our kids.

Maternal Grandparents: Rose and Pop pop.  Everyone always thinks it is weird that I call my grandma by her real first name, but my oldest cousin started the trend and it just kind of stuck

Paternal Grandparents: grandma and grandpa

Me:
Paternal grandparents: Grandma & Grandpa
Maternal grandparents: Mamere & Papa. I can’t tell you how many compliments we get on “Mamere” (pronounced Muh-Mare). If my grandmother didn’t already claim it I would totally want my mom to go by that.

Fiance:
Paternal grandparents: Grandma & Grandpa
Maternal grandparents: Grammy & Papa

My parents (when we have kids): Either Gigi or Cici & Pops
FI’s parents: Mimi & Pa

I’ve also heard of Nana, Nannie, Nan, Noonoo, Yaya, Poppy, Pappy, Pasha, Gma, Gpa, Gma/pa(first letter of last name), Mama & Mammy.

My grandparents are Grammy and Papa and Nanny and Gramps.

My mom and dad will be Papa and Gigi to our daughter his parents thus far are NiNi and Grampy to their first granddaughter.

To a previos poster…Polish for grandpa is dziadek (pronounced JAH-deck).  I only know because my cousins are adopted from Poland 🙂

Edit: However, I just read that dziadzio is the term of endearment for Grandpa in polish so it’s pronounced very similary Jah-Joh.

Maternal is Grammy and Pappy, paternal is Grandmom and Grandpop.  That’s what all my great-grandparents were also and it was honestly never confusing… we just clarified who we were talking about or just knew from the context of the conversation.

DH’s materal is Grandma and Grandad, and paternal is Grammie and Pop-pop.  Same with his great-grandparents.

I’m going to let our parents choose what they want to be called, and I already know my parents are going to be Grammy and Grandpop.  Each are taking from their own sides, which I think is cool.

Both of my grandparents were grandma and grandpa, so my parents will also be grandma and grandpa. My husband’s parents are nannie and poppy to his niece, so they’ll be that for us too.
