We both call each other’s parents by their first names. Fiance calls my Grandma “Grandma _____” like all us kids do though, not her first name.

It would be super weird to call each other’s parents mom and dad, but I guess if they were ever to ask me to do so, I would. (I really don’t think they would though!)

When we eventually have kids, I’m sure I’ll call his parents whatever their chosen grandparent names are.

I started with Mr. and Mrs ……, now it’s their first name. Except FI’s father has 2 first names and everybody calls him only his first, first name. I don’t, I use his full, official birth name hehe.

Another thing that’s particular, is that I still use ”vous” when I talk to them. In french there is two ways to say ”you” to one person, ”tu” which is the familiar ”you”, and ”vous” which is the polite ”you”. I use ”vous” when I talk to my professor, to my boss, to a stranger, to my students (to establish a professional distance between us because we’re the same age), to anyone older than me (grandparents), and to my in-laws. I use ”tu” with collegues, friends, close family.
