    I’m a 14/16 and consider myself to be full-figured.

    @Mrs.Moser:  —> THIS

    Gosh ladies, I do not know WHERE it is you are buying your street clothes… but where I shop a 10, 12, 14, even a 16 or 18 are found in the REGULAR Ladies Departments.  And I would not call any of these Plus sized… they just fit gals who have different height & weight ratios

    Odd number sizing ie… 7, 9, 11, 13, 15 are for Young Women (Misses)… and cut much smaller than Ladies (I wore these sizes in my teens and before I had kids… lol, after that my boobs and hips changed, and I found them to constricting)

    And the Plus Sized Gals sizing goes 14W – 16W – 18W – 20W etc.  And at least where I am from the various groupings don’t cross over, because they are cut for different body types.  For example, I currently wear a 16 – 18 Ladies (or XL) and if I tried on a 14W, 16W or 18W, Womans or Plus Size… I be swimming in it because the cut is so vastly different.

    And as someone else said, if we make the marker at Size 10 or 12, then even the Average Woman is beyond the norm… the Average Woman being here in Canada is 5′-4″ and 153 Lbs.  That is my height, and at 153 Lbs I fit into a Size 12 or 14 (Ladies Large).  Definitely “curvy” but not what I’d call much overweight (BMI of 26.3)

    I do think it is all a matter of perception. I guess to a girl who is a 2, 10 must seem huge.

    By the same token, someone asked me to sew a dress for a girl who was a 2 and I told them  I don’t sew clothes that small and I wasn’t about to learn how.  The measurements of a RTW 2 are on the children’s size chart for pattern making. I don’t make kids clothes.

    So, from my perception, a size 2 is a child’s size even though there are many adults who wear that size and who are at a perfectly healthy weight for their bodies.
