Pumpkineverything:  Mine is smaller than yours– and I, personally- don’t consider it “small”- it was my preference.

I know that on here, it might be considered small though.

I think the concern over diamond size is as ridiculous as cock size.

I don’t think that .7 is small at all. That’s a good size. Anything under about .4 might be a little small, but it also depends on how big your fingers are. Some women have smaller hands and some have bigger hands. So a .5 diamond might look really big on someone with smaller fingers and tiny on someone who has bigger fingers. But the most important thing is that you love your ring. It doesn’t matter what other people think. And as you said, there is such a difference in quality, a hugh diamond doesn’t mean that it’s a quality diamond.

Try to put your FI’s mind at ease. If you love it, that’s all that matters.

Pumpkineverything: Your ring is stunning.  Mine is also the princess cut solitaire in the petite size and I adore this look.  Your diamond appears bigger on your hand.

My first diamond was .50 ct. At ten years we upgraded to 1.5ct diamond. For 20th, I wanted a moissanite,  it’s 3ct.  But I loved them all.  Somebody is always going to have a bigger stone,  bigger house,  nicer car.  Whatever.  Enjoy what you have, upgrade later if you want.  To me a long term happy marriage is worth more bragging rights than any carat size!

I live in Dallas,  TX though, lot of bling here,   so I do think where you live might influence your perception.

This isvery subjective but For me, anything less than 1 carat is small, but that isnt to say they arent beautiful..I echo the PP sentimets of reassuring your Fiance to get rid of his insecurities. you love this man and he loves u, thats what matters

I agree with PPs that have said it’s all about proportions. I can’t look at a diamond on someone’s hand and be like, “That is a 0.43 carat and it is therefore small!” I see how it looks on the person’s hand and that’s what forms the basis of my opinion.

I’m from a big city, so anything less than 1 carat is small here. I think it’s really a personal preference.  I’ve seen some really lovely rings smaller than 1 carat.

i think it depends on finger size too.  If you are a size 3, a .60ct will look way bigger than it would on a size 8.  To me, its more about proportions to the finger and not the actual size.

Also all diff cuts have diff mm sizes based on weight….so the weight isn’t the best indicator of “size”.  I suppose i would go further to say anything under 5.5mm is smallish.

It depends on finger size in my opinion… A 1 carat on a larger finger can look half that size. The smallest center stone that I wanted was a half carat, which is what I have, and I love it! But I don’t consider it to be small…

I think that any size diamond is beautiful if that is what you have and love. Of course many people like a bigger size stone and it’s a matter of opinion. Personally I had hoped for a 1 carat which is what I recently got for an upgrade…great deal by the way due to the trade in. I love my Princess cut…the perfect ring for me! Yours is so beautiful, by the way!!

In my opinion, a center stone less than 1 carat is small.  I, personally, would prefer a larger gemstone center stone engagement ring, to a small Diamond engagement ring if budget was an issue.
