I’m looking to get into the habit of exercising more often, but I don’t know where to start! I’m just here looking for ideas. If you could share your preferred type of exercise (plus reasons you enjoy it), that would be great!

somanyletters: I walk my dogs at least 2 miles a day in nice weather. I love being outside, and my dogs force to keep up the pace, lol. When the weather is crappy, I have a gym membership.

For cardio, I swim once or twice a week and run 3-4 times a week because I love it! I use the elliptical sometimes just for a calorie burn. Twice a week, I do Body Pump once or lift weights. If I were injury-resistant, I would run every day, but unfortunately that doesn’t work!!

I run 5 times a week and do Body Bump 3-4 times a week.

Brazil Butt Lift! I really like it for a lot of reasons. First of all, you can do everything at home, which really appeals to me. Second, you can just pop in the DVD and get going. Third, it comes with a workout schedule, so you know which workout/DVD to do every day. I hate trying to plan my own workout schedules. Fourth, it tells you the time of each workout, so you know exactly how long it’s going to take. Fifth, it makes me sweat and makes me sore, which means that it’s doing what it should be doing!

I do Pure Barre 2-3 times a week. I have dropped from 142 lbs when I started in mid-November to 126 lbs now. I have seen positive changes in my abs, butt, and arms (*humble brag* I’ve always had nice legs). They are expensive classes, but this has been the quickest, most effective work-out I have tried.

I go to the gym 4 times a week and do 20mins cardio to start (either run, eliptical or cycle) and then do arms, legs, core, shoulders and repeat this every week. I also try to swim or ride my bike on the weekends.

I walk outside and on the treadmill, but I also weight lift. When the mood strikes me I’ll play on my Xbox Kinect and play Kinect Adventures; it’s the best Kinect game in my opinion.
When I was in school I loved doing yoga and pilates classes but my gym only offers those classes when I’m at work. ):

RPM once a week, Grit class once a week, interval running, general cardio on the machines, and weights/abs at least 3 times a week. And I walk my dog most days too.

I walk everywhere I need to go.

Right now, just walking and yoga. DH and I do a 10km walk each Sunday, but now that it’s nicer out, we’ll be heading to the mountains for some hikes on the weekend.
In the winter we ski, snowshoe, and on the nicer days, walk.
I’m one of those people who just hate the gym. I’ve had 2 different memberships, and have gone for about 2-3 months, and then quit. I keep thinking I’ll like it, but then I go and hate it more than the last time. So I have to find alternatives that I enjoy 🙂 DH on the other hand loves the gym, and I thought going with him would make it better…nope.

I am on a few soccer leagues in my area. It’s fun and doesn’t feel like i’m working out AND I have lot’s of accountability so I won’t quit.
Before I got on the leagues I would go on walking dates with my friends.
