Not going to coffee shops, I know some canadians drop a load of cash at Tim Horton’s every day!

Wow, I’m impressed!  The extent of my saving is using self-control to not buy shoes I don’t need.  I will say that I make my own pizza dough and chicken or veggie broth, but this is also because it just tastes so much better than store-bought!

@happyface:  Yes!  I recently started brewing my own coffee at home after I realized I was spending more than $10 a week on coffee… that’s more than $520 a year!

When we go to my parents place for dinner, we “grocery shop” through their pantry and freezer. They expect us to do it though! They don’t let us turn down anything, and usually it’s food that I can’t buy at a store (mom’s homemade tomato sauce and sausages), or things we don’t usually buy because it’s expensive (veal chops and game hens).

@happyface:  Guilty 🙁 I love my timmies, but now we have our own Timmies coffee machine at home and Fiance makes it and it’s even better!

I resell a lot on Craigslist/Ebay.

I bring my lunch and breakfast to work every single day. I haven’t eaten out in over 3 years at work (and it helps keep my weight low).We even bring food with us on business trips so we don’t eat out 3X a day.

We just don’t have any cable. We never seemed to be home to watch it, etc. I get the usual channels (ABC, NBC, etc) over the air.

We hardly go out to eat. I like doing this because #1 we’re saving money and #2 I appreciate eating out (esp with DH) more since it’s very rare.

We only shop for things that we NEED. We never go to the mall and blow $400 on name brand things

We are putting off buying new furniture. All of the furniture in our house (and i mean ALL of it) is a hand me down. It’s not exactly ideal, but we are waiting until we are financially ready

Also, we buy milk at the drug store. At the big grocery chains skim milk is over $6 a bag, but at the drug store (still a chain) it is just over $4 for the same brand! We also stock up on sale items, especially meat and freeze what we don’t consume right away.

@RoundSolitaire skim milk is $6!?!? I’m going crazy because it’s $4 here in the states and we drink about 3 gallons a week.
