- Wedding: December 2011
I got a beautiful wedding gift off my registry in the mail the other day. It had just a little gift tag that had a personalized message: “Congratulations, can’t wait for the wedding!” I said hmmm. I contacted the store where I did my registry and they provided the name of the person who paid for the gift.
Problem: the person who paid for the gift is part of a family group attending the wedding. I don’t know if this is just HER gift or if it is meant to be the gift from her entire family. Not to be crass but it was a pretty generous gift ($$$) wise so it seems more likely to be from several people and not just one person, even if obviously it was just one person who swiped their credit card for the transaction.
But I don’t know for sure. So when I wrote the thank you note, I addressed it to her alone. Too late now because I sent it, but did I make a mistake? Should I have tried harder to find out if it was a group gift? I just couldn’t think of a non-awkward way to inquire, hey was that just from you or did you pool your money? Ugh.
