I am donating my flowers AND getting a tax deduction, under making a donation to a charitable group. I am using Second Bloom in Asheville, NC. But I am going to be preserving my bouquet.

Where on the Oregon coast? There aren’t any children’s hospitals on the coast that I know of, I think they are in Portland, but there are a lot of retirement homes!

I think a hospice center would be fabulous or nursing home..where people appreciate the little things..think how lovely their dinner tables would be or in the room of somebody very sad or needing some joy!

At http://www.floralnotes.com, they will take all the petals from your bouquet and press them with recycled paper and make them into thank you notes.  I think it’s a lovely way to make use of your bouquet well past your wedding.  Think how many thank you notes you could potentially get from one bouquet!

@Sparkles: I am doing the same thing. My SI and I just both lost someone very close to use in both our families. I think it is a wonderful touch.

My first job as a teenager was at a nursing home.  Then in college I worked at a group home for developmentally disabled adults.  I am utlizing a friend who wanted to help out in one way or another and having her deliver some of the floral centerpieces from our reception to the nursing home & group homes that I worked at.

I had planned on giving my bouquet to the couple that had been married the longest, one of my sets of grandparents.  However, when my grandfather passed away just a month before my wedding, I decided to give my bouquet to my grandmother in rememberance of my grandfather.  She ended up placing it on his grave, which I thought was very nice.

Otherwise, my bridal party kept their bouquets/bouts.  The groom’s bout (and what was supposed to be my grandfather’s bout) dried and preserved themselves nicely when we were on our honeymoon, so I put them in my little wedding memory box.  We didnt’ have flowers on the tables, but ended up donating the centrepieces (lanterns)
