@rubyred605: My little sister is turning 9 this year… He’s some thoughts for seven:
-American girl doll, toys, books, ANYTHING really
-Crafty stuff, like those kits of stuff you can make (bracelets, lanyards, paper jewelry, etc)
-Sporty stuff? For example, yard games like Bad Minton, ring/bean bag tosses, etc., golf sets, swimming stuff?
-You could always sign her up for something, like a season of rec soccer, dance, etc.
-Buy her tickets and take her to a little girl friendly concert – like Taylor Swift or play or something. It’s something you can do together and you’ll have a memory forever.
-Games! Like Uno, Skip Bo, etc. I bough the game “Sleeping Queens” for my little sis for Christmas and she loves it. Also, Rory’s Story Cubes are super fun. (All of these are available on Amazon)
-Even just a really special day where you pick her up and do fun things just the two of you. Pack a lunch and go to a wave pool, and follow it up with a movie. Make it all about her and her special day.
-My little sister also loves ANYTHING from bath and body works, but I’m not sure if that falls too closely to makeup. (that’s not really a thing in my family).
-I know it’s a little anti-feminist for some people, but I’ve never met a little girl that didn’t think an easy bake oven was super fun.
-Does she like magic stuff? There’s some neat sets for learning magic tricks. Similarly, chemistry sets can be really fun, but they require someone to play with them.
-It’s summer time as well – a new sprinkler topper thing, super soaker squirt guns, slip’n’slide.
Really, at seven, they’re still pretty easy to buy for. My brother is 11 and it’s pretty much a nightmare because it’s starting to be all electronics and I think that’s sort of lame.
Hope that helps. I’m happy to keep brainstorming with you (after all, my sister’s birthday is next month anyway!) but maybe this might be a good start.
