For all of you August 2013-ers. Just wondering how much you have done so far?
So far, I only have two things…My dress and the reception hall. Oh and a mock up list to get in the ballpark of how many people were going to invite.
What are some big things I should get on next and how soon?

- Wedding: August 2013 - Rosehill Community Center
I have the date and location set, as well as officiant (not hard, since he’s my FFIL), and most likely flowers (my friend has done several weddings and offered to do mine!) I feel like I’m super behind, compared to lots of the girls on here, but I can’t seem to motivate myself (or FI) to do the narrowing down of choices part (I have the researching part down, my photographers spreadsheet is forever long, and I can’t stop adding to it, and the catering one is growing by the week). I guess we’ve made our first draft guest list, but the parents seem to refuse to give me their lists! Argh.
I’d say the biggest ones that would potentially be booking up for us now are Venue, Photographer, and Caterer. At least by getting in now we’ll have a jump on the best ones.
I would have guessed DJ too, but I talked with a DJ (who I happened to sit next to on a plane, it was great!) who said to call him around January.

- Wedding: August 2013 - Brookfield Zoo
I’m kind of at a standstill now; got the venue (which includes ceremony/reception, catering, cake), photographer, videographer, photobooth, dj, got my dress and ceremony shoes, got favors (may need to do some work on them), made reception flip flops, asked bridesmaids/men, halfway through asking groomsmen, scheduled engagement pictures, in the process of collecting supplies for centerpieces. I feel like I’ve got the heavy hitters down, now it’s waiting for engagement pictures to be taken. I don’t think we’ll finalize decor or anything until we’ve spoken to our venue’s event coordinator 6 months or so before the wedding.
I think a big next step for you is photographer and videographer (if you are choosing to have one); the good ones go quick!! Photographer is probably most important to get on quick, but I talked to some videographers who said people often think of them last, and sometimes they’re available and sometimes they’re not.

I agree with @elysion, We are at a stand still too. We have majority of the big stuff done:
Venue. Officiant. Photographer. DJ. Invitation Designer. My Dress. Cake. Guest List. Rehearsal Dinner Guest List and Menu. And lots of ideas for the rest of it.
Our next big decision is the Florist but I am 99% sure I found who I wanted. And then it will be working on a bunch of smaller things.

Wow. This thread just sent me to panic mode! I only have a good idea of the guest list, found a dress I love, we’ve talked to our pastor about being the officiant, we know my fiance’s aunt (a baker) is probably making our cake, my future brother-in-law’s now wife’s sister has a side business as a florist, so she’ll probably do our flowers, oh and I have the colors picked out and also think we have sort of a theme down. We’ve been sort of brainstorming a bit, but we don’t really have anything set in stone yet. We are just now starting to look at venues!!
