My fiance and I are talking about some changes to our wedding theme. We’re basing the whole wedding around his dress blues..or, rather, the colors. It’s also going to be outdoors in his grandparents’ yard. I don’t want to do just regular red, white and blue. We had one idea to do red, white, and aqua as a lighter play on the colors. The other idea was to do navy blue and gold..which is more formal without being super formal (if that makes sense..) and my fiance likes it better because “both colors are actually part of the uniform”. I like the first because it’s light and summery, but also not because I don’t like that the blues clash. And I like the second because I had originally been planning on a formal wedding and this gives me some of that while still being an informal backyard affair. It also reminds me of midnight, favorite time of day (night?) 🙂 Plus the navy and gold gives me more chances for craft projects, haha!
I think right now we’re leaning toward navy and gold.

We’re actually doing navy, light (soft, not brassy) gold and blush as our colours! They look so beautiful together, and you can very easily incorporate white in there too 🙂

@christoffels: Yes, I think I’ll throw in my touch and do more of a champagne color than actual gold so it’s less harsh.
The only thing is, the dress and accessories I want have quite a bit of silver bling :/ I know I’m the bride and am supposed to stand out, but I don’t want to clash.

@marinesfiance: You won’t clash. Mixed metals are all the rage right now.
I beg to differ. I think navy blue and aqua look great together
Gold is really a neutral so you could do navy blue and aqua, adding gold (or champagne ) and white as your neutrals.

@julies1949: I think that’s absolutely gorgeous, but I showed it to my fiance and he wrinkled his nose, lol. He doesn’t like anything fun 🙁

I love red and aqua, its one of my favorite combos. And red is usually one of my least favorite colors!

@julies1949: Oooo Ooooo THIS! Navy and aqua look great together!! It’s a good compromise between light and summery and darker. I haven’t seen this color scheme in a wedding before!

I voted for red and aqua blue but I’m biased since my wedding was aqua and red. I love the aqua with pops of red.

Our wedding colours are red and blue, so I voted for aqua/red. I love contrasting colours put together, looks awesome!

I may be biased since gold and navy are my favourite football team’s colours, but I voted blue and gold. I’m not so much a fan of red and aqua either…
