I just got one for Christmas but haven’t even taken it out of the box yet. I don’t really know what to make in it! I was thinking shredded chicken or pork for lettuce wraps but that’s about as far as my ideas have gotten. We don’t really eat soup or stew and that’s what I usually think of when I think slow cooker
So, what do you make with yours? I need some tips!

Short answer: Anything I can!
My favourite non-stew recipe: http://skinnyms.com/slow-cooker-balsamic-chicken/. That website actually has a ton of delcious (and low-cal) recipes to check out.
My FI’s favourite recipe: http://www.mmmisformommy.com/2011/09/easy-barbecued-ribs.html
I’ve never tried it myself, but I know there’s a ton of tasty-looking desserts you can try. http://www.momprepares.com/2011/10/11/crock-pot-desserts-for-a-hassle-free-finale-to-dinner/3302 looks like a good place to start.
Hope that helps! I loooove my slowcooker. There’s just something about coming home to dinner already made. 🙂

I cook EVERYTHING I can (like @MsKaz said) in my slow cooker. I’m a big fan of roast – just buy whatever type of meat you’d like to use for the roast and add random veggies, seasonings, etc. It’s so easy and no-hassle.
I also love to make soup in the slow cooker, French Onion and Chili are two big ones in our household.
I’ve also done a chicken fajita mix (put the chicken breasts in whole then shred/tear as they get tender in the crock pot) that came out delicious.
Hope this helps!

I agree with the PP, anything I can think of! Sometimes I buy a roast and will put it in there will potatoes, carrots, and onions and let it cook all day. The house smells amazing when I get home. I’ve cooked meatloaf in it and it actually turns out pretty darn good.
Yesterday I cooked chicken on low for 8 hours and when I took it out, it pulled apart very easily. I put it in cabbage wraps. I make chili in mine, and a lot of soups. I know you said you don’t really eat soups or stews, but it’s really a very versatile appliance to have!

Mine’s running at home right now (I’m at work). I’m making chicken pot pie. 2 packs of chicken thighs, 1 can of cream of chicken, peas, carrots, onions & some spices.
Sunday I’ll be making pulled pork: 1 big pork loin, 1 can of tomato puree, 1 c of brown sugar (give or take), 1/2 cup of water & pretty much whatever else you want to put in there (onions, garlic, cumin, coriander, cayenne etc)

Turkey Chili: brown some ground turkey, dump one can each into the crock pot – kidney beans (rinsed well), black beans (rinsed well), some other bean I can’t recall the name of (also rinsed well), corn (juice too), petite diced tomatoes, crushed tomatoes, and chicken broth. Add in browned/drained turkey. Cook for 6-8 hours. Add in salt, pepper, and chili powder to taste. I also drop in 1 tablespoon of a spicy BBQ sauce and a drizzle of honey for an extra kick.
Disclaimer: I have a huge crock pot and I cook for a family of 6 so I make a lot of food at once. The Chili doesn’t last past the second day in our house.

I love my crock pot as well. I’ve made both chicken and beef chili, barbeque chicken, Italian beef sandwiches, french dip sandwiches. Also beef tips. They are probably my favorite because they are SO easy.
The last time I made them, I served them over egg noodles. I think the next time I make them, I am going to have mashed potatoes. Yumm!

We LOVE our slow cooker! I use it at least twice a week. You can find all kinds of great recipes online. But I love a good roast and veggies–then you can make beef stew or veg soup with the leftovers! I also use mine to make chili quite often. I especially love the recipes that cook on low for 8 hours-the house smells so delicious after a long day at work! 🙂
