I love my venue! I do wish however that the reception area wasn’t quite so broken up. The dinner area is seperate from the dancing area. It’s an older mansion bed and breakfast so there isn’t any way around it. We also can’t have music piped in to the outdoor ceremony, which I was upset about at first, but not minding anymore. Overall though, it has the exact feel I was going for!

@Luayne:  Gotta agree!

We actually searched for a venue for a year, found one we loved, quickly grew fed up with planning ONE day with 6 different coordinators (club+food+booze+cake+valet+ceremony), and ended up booking an incredible “one stop shop” venue — love it, no complaints, definitely better than the alternative!

I love my venue expect the fact that there is a preferred catering list. Plus we have to use the venues bar services…which is expensive even though we will have a cash bar. I tried to see if we could afford to give everyone a glass of champagne to toast and it would have been close to $2000 for 1 drink for everyone. Hell no. So the toasting is out. I may just have the parents give a quick speech instead and me and hubby say quick thank you’s so that it is not noticed.

@regit45:  No elevator so FI’s grandfather won’t be able to come. The bright side (I guess) is that before we even mentioned this to his step-grandmother she said that he would probably be too tired to attend so it never came up. The only other thing I don’t like is that there’s not enough natural lighting due to 1/2 of the space being an interior room.

I don’t like that its a little far (about 35 mn drive since its in the outskirts of town), that half of the parking spots are on the grass, and that 3-4tables are out of the view of the dance floor because of the layout of the dance floor.

but I loooooove the chapel, the floor length windows that show off the greenery outside, all the chandeliers in the ballroom. And the included chairs and centerpieces.

I picked my venue because I love the actual building so much. It is a bit of a distance from everything else, but the worst thing about it is that the owner is a jerk.
I wonder if I picked the right place, but I love the venue so much. I try avoiding him as much as possible.

There were swings and a merry go round in the corner of the lawn. But it didn’t end up interfering, and we got some cool candid’s of a few of my friends riding the MGR together.

I didn’t like the size of the main room once I realized how many tables we needed to put in there. I didn’t realized there was a home for troubled youth next door until we were doing our rehearsal outside and we could hear them yelling and playing basketball. Thankfully, they didn’t make a bunch of noise during our ceremony and everything worked out fine with the layout in the main room.

Right now the fact that they wont reply to me. Otherwise – the carpet and lighting.

@regit45:  The only thing I don’t like about mine is that it doesn’t sit right on the lake shore, it up on a hill overlooking the lake, so our couple pictures are going to require a small amount of travel.   But the view is OTT, and it is private and gated, so I will manage to deal with not being right on the waters edge.  Other than that I love our venue.

I LOVE the building, inside and out! It use to be an old brick train station and has been re-done to be a community center. Half the building is an art gallery, and the other half is a huge ballroom with a stage.  All exposed brick, original wood plank floors, and exposed ceiling beams.  The only thing I don’t like is the stage curtain is a deep red color.  It blends in with the brick well, so it’s like a “neutral”, but my Bridal Party is wearing teal so I feel like it might look like Christmas! LOL

Such a trivial thing, I know…that’s what weddings do to us! 🙂
