Hi everyone, so fathers day is next weekend here in Australia and it’s already starting to bother me because I have a douchey dad. I know I’m not alone in this so I was wondering what do you do to make the most of the day when everyone else is busy bbqing (or whatever it is that people do with dad’s who they love)?
I’m thinking about having a treat yo’ self type morning, maybe getting my nails done. Idea’s/suggestions?

I treat it like any other day, I don’t do anything special. It really depends though, I am not sensitive about the lack of relationship. BUT I am always in agreement for a treat yo’self day so do it!
ETA: CHEAT DAAAAAAY get yummy foods too!

I have a crappy mother, so I can relate. Yup, treat yourself in whatever way that you like. Personally I’d get my nails done and then go buy a new book. Maybe get takeout from my favorite restaurant. Avoid social media if seeing people posting about their parents upsets you. Have a good day and don’t let it get you down.

Although I have a slightly different situation (my dad is deceased), I don’t really “do” anything. If you don’t celebrate Father’s Day, it is just another day. You can do something special for yourself if you wish, just like any other day.

I do not a damn thing. I never even know it’s Father’s Day until someone reminds me.

I celebrate with other fathers. Usually either an uncle or father figure. I’ll usually send my ex father’s day well wishes.
But I think doing a Treat yoself day sounds great!

I was blessed with the most wonderful father in the world …. unfortunately I did not pick a good father for my children, and I live with that guilt. On Fathers Day the kids and I celebrate with my dad (their grandpa) and my brothers.

I no longer speak to my father and honestly I am lucky and have a step-dad who is not a piece of garbage, so I called him and wished him a happy father’s day.
Other than that, just forget about it and live a normal day, just like any other 🙂 I think I had work that day so I didn’t really have a choice to spend it doing something fun lol… If you want to make it a food cheat day I can’t stop you! 😉

redwinetime : Know the feeling, my dad is absolutely nasty and horrible. I just treat it like it isn’t overly a special day and just have treat yourself time and get some awesome food in.
